I am currently in an oud testing phase and have thus arrived at Royal Oud by Montale. Since Montale is considered a master of oud fragrances due to its many years of experience in the Middle East, I thought it was worth a try.
I am a pure oud enthusiast, but in the original sense, meaning where oud naturally smells like oud! This is not the case here! The oud smells rather synthetic, and the worst part is this EXTREME medicinal note that almost causes a gag reflex during the first hour after spraying. After the first hour, the medicinal smell fades, but it remains present until the end. I didn’t smell any spices at all. Grapefruit does give the fragrance a certain freshness, yet the medicinal smell is still the most noticeable!
So from me, the rating is: terrible!

Nevertheless, I will test some more Montale ouds....

So this is the first oud fragrance that I really don't like at all! Very animalistic, very earthy! If anything, I can only imagine this oud on a man!

As an absolute oud enthusiast, I am very pleased with Mukhallat Dahn al Oud Moattaq. Simply wonderful! It starts earthy and animalic and develops beautifully soft, slightly sweet, with a hint of citrus freshness, and finishes powdery. The fragrance is classified as unisex, yet I see it more on a woman than on a man. It is definitely one of my favorites, and it is an original Arabic oud scent, which you can tell right away!

Facets of Her is an extremely sweet, vanillic fragrance, which is exactly what I am definitely not. Initially very dominant, there is even a fresh note present. The longevity is very good. In the end, it smells very powdery and reminds me of Tocade by Rochas (a youthful sin ;-))

So, my dears, here comes my first comment!

I find the scent special, as it strikes me as both fresh and warm, oriental, and truly vibrant. The pink pepper and tonka bean have particularly captivated me, just like in Tom Ford's Private Blend "Noir de Noir" and "Oud Wood."

The Chloe EdP had also attracted me before, but I couldn't stand it on myself at all! Moreover, I had this "old lady scent" in my nose, if you know what I mean?! And with the Chloe Intense, it’s not like that at all; on the contrary: elegant but lively, dynamic.

The intensity and longevity are also excellent. I can't stand it when I can't smell myself after half an hour :-SS

It’s already ordered, I’m eagerly waiting for it!
