Smooth, warm woods
Every time I spray this, I can't help but think of the Ron Burgundy quote, "I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany." That's precisely how wearing Halfeti makes me feel -- luxe, sophisticated and comforted by leathers, resins and the absolutely stunning woody notes.
I wasn't really prepared to love Halfeti as much as I do and I understand why Penhaligon's pumps this outside of it's stores -- it's somehow an utterly charming scent. I first smelled Halfeti in an airport duty free and was blown away. I didn't buy it then, but it did kick start a sampling of a few different ouds including Tom Ford Oud Wood, Thameen Carved Oud, MfK Oud Satin Mood, Initio Oud for Greatness and of course Halfeti. Halfeti constantly came out as the clear winner of them all to my nose.
The opening is quite masculine but the dry down softens and sweetens up to a totally unisex scent. A very dry, smooth and warm dark woods that just feels comforting on cold fall and winter days. Allegedly inspired by black roses that grow in the city of Halfeti, I don't actually get all that much rose. While it is undeniably present in the background it's the cardamom, saffron, oud and cedar that stick out most prominently to my nose (I am not mad about that!) With a light hand, Halfeti can be day time and office appropriate as the sillage and projection do settle closer to the skin (though watch the sprays, it is very possible to overdo it). The longevity of Halfeti is excellent and I can get about 8-10 hours out of it, though it will last over a week if sprayed on say a coat or scarf.
Overall, I am really glad I ended up adding Halfeti into my collection and it's been one of my heavy hitters this F/W season.
