What's in a name?
It’s all in the name.

Oh, wait — maybe your Arabic needs a little dusting off.

With a bit of interpretive generosity, you might read it as "oud aged in barrels."

Oud, then. The undisputed star of Middle Eastern perfumery — here, cloaked in heat, in breath, in raw animality.

That beautiful scent of fermentation, a telltale sign of top-shelf oud (think The Night by Frédéric Malle), followed by the soft rise of rose.

This is, in a way, a reinterpretation of a classic — but one that radiates nothing less than sheer ingredient excellence.

Half desert, half spice market, half stable.

Somewhere between prince and stableboy.

OUD ROSE HERBS

Mukhallat Dahn Al Oud Moattaq from the UAE Haute Luxury Niche Perfumery House of Indian origin based in Dubai is an oriental woody floral spicy musky animalic perfume; It was released in 2017. In this creation, Ajmal is primarily targeting its long-standing loyal Arab customers from the KHALIJ Region (Gulf).

Mukhallat Dahn Al Oud Moattaq(Aged Oud Oil Blend) is one of the most exclusive perfumes among contemporary oriental creations, created without the obligation to please the western market.
'Mukhallat' means 'Mixture' in Arabic.
It is a blend created around a body of excellent natural oils of aged 'oud and Turkish rose. Ajmal knows how to mix and work with 'oud like no one else.

The top brings rich notes of noble woods in harmony with pure oils of animalistic Indian 'oud and velvety fresh Turkish rose with a spicy blend of Indian herbs. The heart exudes an ambery and woody feel with the base culminating in musky-powdery, soft-animalic and rosette-woody notes with emphasis on a multifaceted 'oud: dark, metallic, animalic, smoky.

Mukhallat Dahn Al Oud Moattaq is a delicious EDP spray arabesque combo 'Oud & Rose Woody Animalic Spiced Musky slightly Amber.
Excellent performance[fixation, projection]!
Presented in a 60ml hand-cut crystal bottle worthy of being part of a real oud connoisseur's collection.

Delightful leathery rose
This is a reward for the patients. For western noses it will be challenging for, at least, the first couple of hours. After that, it's just pure joy.

When the perfume is first sprayed, in addition to the animalic attribute of the oud, there's a strong medicinal aspect for a considerable amount of time and this could be the most offputing nuance for most noses, in my opinion. After this medicial smell dissapears, it's all about a very dry animalic leather and beautiful roses. Maybe a bit of amber and musk when you smell it very close.
I love how the darkness of oud and the brightness of roses is combined in this beauty. Overall it's a very simple composition, however, the exquisite blending and high quality ingredients creates a pretty complex and gorgeous smell. Stunning bottle.

It lasts 12+ hours on my skin. Projection and sillage are modest, but to be honest, I don't think you need more than that.

Ajmal is becoming my favourite brand when it comes to oud.

An essential part of anyone's oud education
Mukhallat Dahn al Oudh Moattaq is a masterpiece of mukhallat perfumery. With a long name that translates to (roughly) ‘Aged Oud Blend’, it earns a place in any list of top ten or even top five mukhallats in the world. Essentially an essay on the beauty of aged Hindi oud, Mukhallat Dahn al Oudh Moattaq wanders through the umami flavorways of noble oud oil, touching upon sweet, sour, salty, woody, and even herbal facets as it passes through. It may at first appear pungent or animalic to the uninitiated, but once the leathery spices rise through the initial wall of funk, you will find it difficult to tear your nose away. Sweet red roses, musk, and greenish herbs – perhaps a touch of vetiver – provide an excellent showcase for the aged oud, grounding and buttressing it with layers of complexity, body, and richness.

The other notes, while extremely rich and high quality, do not distract from the star of the show, namely that beautiful, aged Hindi oud. The oud slowly softens and melts like a pool of warm honey, pumping out wave after wave of spiced, syrupy goodness throughout the day. This intoxicating concerto of aromas is top of its class at representing the unique pleasures of oil perfumery. In the far drydown, natural ambergris lends the scent a golden glow, as well as a hint of coniferous bitterness that recalls fir balsam. Think of sea breezes blowing a forest of pine trees sideways, the salty freshness of the sea air mixing with the resinous greenery of the trees and the golden sweetness of tree sap. The ambergris amplifies the beauty of the aged oud and the brilliance of its rich Turkish rose. Beautiful, pure, and incredibly rewarding to wear, Mukhallat Dahn al Oudh Moattaq goes straight into the pantheon of must-haves for any serious mukhallat lover.

2 hours of pain then relief...
This test with just one spray:
The first 40 minutes. strong toilet cleaner + and Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese melted in the sun, from which you can imagine maggots crawling out. (really disgusting smell, especially that chemical smell).

40-65min. Brings to mind a weekend night at a cheap bar and you go to the urinal, the smell of piss and urinal cleaning chemicals, with a hint of mild Parmigiano-Reggiano in the background.

1h5min-1h45min. If it were summer now, the mosquitoes would leave you alone, because the smell is the same as strong mosquito repellent.

1h 45min- 2h, now the smell is clearly changing to something, the smell is some exotic pepper or peppery spice mix. Now for the first time it smells good.

2h- 7h, Now there is a clear rose, a bit like a rose opening from a bud but the rose does not open and the scent remains the same (I kept waiting for the rose to open but it did not happen). So a very mild but good rose.

7h+ - until I fell asleep, the scent changed again and now it was some sweet unidentified fruit, this was already a skin scent.

But I only experienced this with one spray. I definitely need to try again and with more sprays.
But the first 2 hours were horrible, if you took the bus, you would have half the bus to yourself because people would try to get away from you.

Opens medicinal - herbal, spicy nuances.
Powerful musk and leathery, smoky oud.
Slightly sweet, waxy rose elevates the dry, sour woodiness.

An incredible rose oud perfume!
Starting with mainly rose, the oud makes the composition dirty/slightly sour in the dry down.
Solo wearable.

Rose is the main player, initially supported by soapy aromatics, ultimately lightly musky, woody and somewhat sour. Very wearable.

One of my favourite rose oud scents. Funky Indian oud tamed by a slightly harsh rose. It has a musky opening that gives way to smooth rose.
