Tamed Lily
At the beginning of the year, I stumbled upon a sample of
Baiser Volé Eau de Parfum. While I really liked the monothematic interpretation of a lily scent, the lily was a bit too sharp and aggressive for me to feel comfortable with it long-term.
After some research and advice on Parfumo, I eventually acquired the newer version
Baiser Volé Parfum and have been very impressed since.
The opening remains fresh and green with a distinct lily and a powdery touch. However, the lily is now accompanied by softer, equally velvety accords.
I cannot tell whether it is the heliotropin or the tonka bean that is responsible for this, but it suits the generally cooler lily incredibly well to be warmed and powdered.
Thus, the scent on my skin does not come across as relentlessly sharp, but rather gentle, without completely losing its green character.
The fragrance is, like the edP, very linear, and I do not perceive any significant scent developments.
I find the longevity to be excellent, as I can still detect it on my wrist after 8 hours.
I can hardly assess the sillage, as I generally appreciate the quieter notes - there is no beast mode for me. However, in my opinion, Cartier has created a fragrance here that is noticeably perceivable to those nearby, so it is not just a "I smell good only for myself" scent.
If the edp is a bit too loud and biting for you, you should check out this somewhat softer - but in my eyes not less interesting! - lily variant.
