For my nose, it's the best from Guerlain
I struggle with Guerlain fragrances. In my mid-20s, I wore Samsara and liked it quite a bit; even today, Samsara is still "ok" for me, but I no longer own it. The whole new range of fragrances like Little Black Dress etc. are a horror for me, too synthetic for my nose, and there's something in them that just doesn't work for me. Therefore, I was all the more surprised that 20 years after Samsara, I was able to smell something from Guerlain that captivated me. Idylle is heavy, powdery, and incredibly feminine. For me, it belongs in the category of "classic feminine fragrances," or let's say: THE fragrance for the classic lady. I think it's great, but only in winter. Because it is so heavy to even overwhelming, I can only wear it in the cold season. A highlight from Guerlain with potential to become a classic.

It has somehow become more bitter...
I first encountered this fragrance 20 years ago. It guided me through the light and joyful summer days of my late youth and made summer fresh and cheerful. I loved its lemony freshness. In my memory, the scent was fresh but "round." However, with the freshness, it was also a pure summer fragrance. My girlfriend also bought it right away, back then in France on vacation, where it was a bit cheaper than at home. A few years ago, I saw it again and tested it. And I was disappointed, as it has become much more bitter in my nose, less lovely than before. That could be my memory. Or a new formula. The fact is: Today, the fragrance feels very masculine to me, and the freshness lasts no more than 3 hours. I steer clear of it and opt for Arden's Green Tea for a refreshing summer scent. It is also light but less bitter.

Cotton Candy
In 2012, I was offered Candy in a New York department store, and I sniffed the tester, smelled cotton candy, and thought of my three-year-old niece. I would never buy this, I told the saleswoman, leaving her confused. How can one smell like cotton candy at a mature age?
Two years later, everything was different. I have no idea why - I was standing in the perfume shop, and I had to smell it again. And then Candy was allowed to come home with me. By now, I own the second bottle. Yes, it is sweet. Yes, it is playful. But when it has had a while to settle, it becomes velvety-powdery and very seductive on my skin. It will never be my favorite scent, but it fits Christmas like no other.
