Spring Promise
"Dear spring, do come again;
Dear spring, come again soon;
Bring and flowers, foliage, and songs.
Adorn field and wood again ..."
it says in a poem by August Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben.
This thought probably also Thierry water, when he composed for Guerlain "Idylle".
Easter with the bold spring bloomers is over. After their colorful courageous blooms and so slowly retreat into their bulbs, in long sleep to recharge fresh strength for the coming spring, there is no stopping nature.
You can almost watch everything explode: an almost transparent light green glow becomes fresh foliage; the buds thicken: everyone wants to be the first to venture into light and warmth.
"Just wait! By Pentecost, we'll be there!" they seem to shout.
The birds merrily join in this call.
And they are:
"Idylle" adorns herself with thick fragrant freesia blossoms in a green nest to start the season; the early roses are still preening a bit - typical woman! -but their delicate fragrance is already clearly perceptible. Why should they of all people stand back?
No! They accompany the nippy freesias. Or do the freesias accompany the roses?
You can't be quite sure!
The fact is, freesias, unlike roses, are ground-hugging. They are tied to their leaf nests to the earth; whereas even the early roses can float above it, dance in the light wind. - Ladies! All together!
But yet they get along harmoniously with the fruity freshness of raspberries and lychee.
They form a fragrant alliance against the beauties that now await.
And here they come: ripe, balsamic-scented lilac umbels, white golden-faced jasmine blossoms adorning their bushes.
In their shade likes to stay the also not exactly shy lily of the valley. Even if it has to stretch a little: it dances with the fragrance of the "big ones" - ha, that would be a laugh!
Lily of the valley can not be so easily underbuttern!
Peonies sway good-naturedly smiling their heavy freshly coiffed curly flower heads; no matter what color: they know that they and the noble rose are in a scent league all their own.
"Never mind the little screamers," they seem to think. "They smell so lovely!"
And so they are welcomed and embraced with smiles!
Of course, even in this "idyll" the earthy dark brown-golden charm of patchouli can not be missing. Always beautiful and flattering the senses and caressing them.
Together with white musk, he wraps all this vibrant floral splendor in a protective fragrance network: so much spring beauty must be protected in little.
Still the nights can be cold and biting.
Thus is born this fragrance dream, an "idyll" that becomes the center of the day, cozy warm and smiling tenderly.
A promise resonates, which the summer still has to keep.
"Idylle," on the other hand, has it easy: the promise of blooming, hopeful spring has succeeded.
Spring-like durability and sillage accompany unobtrusive yet present for several hours. Spring is not yet "infinitely long and far", he leaves that to the summer!
Guerlain's "Idylle" prepares light and floral scented the way into this summer; "Idylle" is a kind of "bridge builder" there.
Whoever crosses this scented bridge will gladly linger longer in this "Idylle", enjoying its delicate promising fragrance: spun in and well protected and full of hope!
So I try once again the Privy Councillor von Goethe:
"Augenblick verweile, Du bist so schön" (Wait a moment, you are so beautiful)
