A short lived affair
When I first smelled Devotion intense I really loved it in its delicious simplicity. Juicy, nutty and all the good stuff. The last couple of weeks I started picking up a really unpleasant, very synthetic, thick, stale, buttery popcorn note, towards the dry down. Ever since then I can t un-smell it. For now I m just appreciating the bottle, wondering if I should give it the benefit of the doubt or re-home it.

Blank on Purpose
I ordered a few different samples from Toskovat out of plain curiosity. I ended up giving them all away but I kept Silent at the Theme Park. Love them or hate them one thing is certain about Toskovat's perfumes, they aren't boring. This one is my favorite out of all the ones I tried and the most wearable in the traditional sense. The notes are also quite easy to decipher even to my untrained nose. In the opening I get the lemon cake ylang-ylang and lilac. The floral notes feel very natural which is refreshing when compared to the synthetic extravaganza of many current formulations. It's juicy and bold but also comforting and uplifting. On the dry down the lemon cake is already eaten and the scent becomes a very unisex, patchouli forward woodsy floral. The perfume oscillates between masculine and feminine, vintage and modern, bold and subtle, sweet and earthy and strikes a very beautiful balance between all these facets. Well blended and introspective it evokes tranquility and peace like reading a favorite book somewhere in the nature on a sunny spring morning. Definitely full bottle worthy for me.

Interesting concept but the perfume?
I got a sample of Inexcusable Evil and tried it both on paper and on my skin. The concept and presentation are very interesting although they make me feel uncomfortable. The fragrance itself is a poorly blended mess, in my opinion. War is chaotic and maybe that was the point. I don't know how else it could have been composed to convey the message. At the same time it's a fragrance and as such it isn't wearable unless one carries flyers in their bag explaining the idea behind it. It inspires interesting conversations but it's more of an art display than something to wear and mingle out and about.
