Suffocating

There are two versions of this perfume (the original and the intense) Both scents have significant differences

The notes in this original Devotion are Candied Lemon, Panacotta, Orange Blossom and Vanilla. This makes it refreshing, sweet, creamy, light, fluffy and fun. This to me is a sweet, almost boozy Limoncello fragrance. I absolutely love this one and it’s one of my top 10 favourite scents!

The intense version isn't just a stronger version of the original, it has a different vibe altogether with notes of Hazelnut, Orange Blossom and Vanilla. This gives the intense a much denser, dryer, dirty/dusty/oud type base that I find extremely suffocating. There’s no lemon in the intense version and I absolutely hate it.

I’d highly recommend you test both versions to see which you personally prefer. I would have written off this perfume if I hadn’t smelt the original.

Delicious Cake

After examining my decant I realized I had mistakenly left a review on Devotion Eau de Parfum instead of this version. Here's the review I accidentally posted that I meant to post for this:

This is an unexpected gourmand that I wasn't sure how much I would like but it's great. Everyone is absolutely correct when they say this smells like lemon pound cake. I sprayed it on and immediately wished I was having a sweet treat. Most of the gourmands in my collection lean more caramel/vanilla/toffee and while this does have some vanilla in it the citrus adds a nice twist that you don't usually see in gourmands. I got this in a Sephora sampler and while I love this it would be a better value to redeem the voucher for Flowerbomb but I'm adding this to my wishlist IMMEDIATELY.

Devotion Intense, Indeed

I absolutely love the OG Devotion and was a bit hesitant to try out the Intense but dang is this so good! I actually think this is better! I find this to be more complex and interesting while also being super similar to the original. I actually smell something that is slightly "spicy", as in cloves/cinnamon/nutmeg but maybe my sense of smell is playing tricks. Devotion Intense opens up smelling almost identical to the OG, but dries down to a less citrusy, slightly floral, nutty vanilla. I enjoy when flankers smell similar to the original, but deviate enough to also make it so it isn't similar enough to be repetitive. 10/10 fragrance!

Decadent and Delicious

Now THIS is a gourmand. Instant love for this one. I know it supposedly leans more hazelnut-citrus than the OG Devotion. But to me, it's all mouth-watering lemon vanilla cake. And compared to Xerjoff Lira, this is so much richer to my nose. If Lira is nice, pretty, light dry lemon pound cake, this is amped up, thick gooey goodness with drippy lemon icing on super moist vanilla cake. Absolutely addicting.

I’m more devoted to intense

I liked the idea of the original but don’t love it. The notes are good, and on paper, it sounded perfect. But I never find myself reaching for my travel size. It’s just a little too something. Sharp, maybe? It just doesn’t sit right on me. I feel off/uncomfortable when I wear it. But the intense - I love it. It’s smoother on me. Less actual cake/food, while still being food-y. It’s prettier somehow. Strange because they are just so similar.

If you love the original Devotion, I don’t think you need this one because they really are so similar.

If you hate the original Devotion, I don’t think you need this, either. I feel like you’d hate this one, too.

But if you find yourself in the strange little corner with me, where you kind of like Devotion but just don’t love it - give the intense a test.
