Devotion Intense, Indeed

I absolutely love the OG Devotion and was a bit hesitant to try out the Intense but dang is this so good! I actually think this is better! I find this to be more complex and interesting while also being super similar to the original. I actually smell something that is slightly "spicy", as in cloves/cinnamon/nutmeg but maybe my sense of smell is playing tricks. Devotion Intense opens up smelling almost identical to the OG, but dries down to a less citrusy, slightly floral, nutty vanilla. I enjoy when flankers smell similar to the original, but deviate enough to also make it so it isn't similar enough to be repetitive. 10/10 fragrance!

I’m more devoted to intense

I liked the idea of the original but don’t love it. The notes are good, and on paper, it sounded perfect. But I never find myself reaching for my travel size. It’s just a little too something. Sharp, maybe? It just doesn’t sit right on me. I feel off/uncomfortable when I wear it. But the intense - I love it. It’s smoother on me. Less actual cake/food, while still being food-y. It’s prettier somehow. Strange because they are just so similar.

If you love the original Devotion, I don’t think you need this one because they really are so similar.

If you hate the original Devotion, I don’t think you need this, either. I feel like you’d hate this one, too.

But if you find yourself in the strange little corner with me, where you kind of like Devotion but just don’t love it - give the intense a test.

Instant love

Its quite rare I get a sample and I'm immediately like: 'I need a bigger bottle now', lol, its even rarer I have that reaction the next 3 times I try the sample.

This is a gorgeous vanilla, its not particularly complicated so if that's your thing you may not be overly impressed however if you're a 'vanilla-in-all-forms' fan then give this a try. The initial smell is nutty vanilla, then you notice the orange blossom and it just about elevates it from a basic vanilla gourmand, but its still lovely and warm and delicious. Probably one of the longest lasting scents on skin I have tried, comparable to BR540 levels. Will be getting a bottle to see me through Autumn and Winter for sure :)

Used this on and off during October (UK) and my love did not wain with exposure. She's perfect for this time of year and makes me happy to waft around smelling like this.

Devotion, let me upgrade you!

I was able to sample this one from one of my good frag friends and honestly, it deserves a spot in my collection. As a picky person and lover of citrus gourmands, I had a feeling this one would tick all the boxes for me.

Devotion Intense is the much needed upgrade from the OG, with not only improved performance, but with a less sharp citrus and a more smooth blending. While the hazelnut is there, it’s not as strong as I’d like it to be. It does add a nice nutty and cream touch to the scent, and it does stay present / perceive-able from the opening all the way into the late dry down. It’s incredibly addictive and yummy. Excellent sillage and leaves the best scent trail, especially on those breezy days. Very happy with this flanker and very happy to be adding it to my collection. If you didn’t love the OG, definitely try the intense!

Better Than The Original

This is one of the fragrances I bought a full bottle of during the 2024 Black Friday sales. Something about this fragrance makes me obsessively sniff my wrist throughout the day. I liked Devotion enough to get in travel size but the hazelnut in this Intense version really elevates the scent which made we want to have a full bottle. This Intense version is darker in color than the original which is fitting because it think this is warmer and more complex compared to Devotion. The hazelnut here turns somewhat “spicy” on my skin during dry down that reminds me of the sharpness of candied ginger. I love this fragrance for the holidays/winter months.
