old...
In the course of my autumn and early winter journey through the musk and Sandeldüfte (among other things in search of a new winter fragrance) I come so whether the fragrance descriptions here then also past an Etro.
Now I must mention, every year again I encounter one of this brand, impressed to stay.... so far Etro has always represented for me noble, clear perfume art. No rollercoaster ride through fragrance pyramids, but unambiguity with some subliminal accent that connects all fragrances. However, I am not versed enough in the matter to be able to comment on it, perhaps it is the understatement.

Interestingly, the musk scent coolly repulsed me in the fall, I wasn't sure about that one, but it may come around again in the spring.

But now to Sandalo: according to the fragrance description intended for men.... Fresh in the prelude. Myself and my husband a spray on the wrist - and am immediately pleasantly touched. As with the Etro fragrances I know, first comes a herbaceous greeting. And yes, his comment "old" is kind of true.... it doesn't make me think of an old gentleman, but it does make me think of old times.
Again.
This has been happening to me ever since I joined Parfumo.
Old times. Somewhere in the fresh-woody intro, a masculine friendliness comes to me, tart, almost medicinal, familiar from the 70's and 80's, confident but unpretentious. The scent doesn't feel the need to yell at its counterpart, it envelops. Sure.
There's incense, too. Dry and beautiful. Various woods that offer protective magic ignite discreetly in the background. I would also attribute the patchouli hint to the herbaceous portion of the composition. This one lingers (tested in a cloth). However, I wouldn't have immediately thought of patchouli.... nothing gothic-musty or heavy, but light and airy, maybe a bit.... sterile? I don't mean that in a negative way at all. Maybe it reminds me of a pediatrician's office in the 70s - not scary, but with the note "nothing will happen to you here - you can't get any cleaner"... true, clean smells too. But just not like the "clean skin" and "freshly washed laundry" fragrances (which I can definitely get a lot of...).

On the skin, the scent nestles in more and more. Although tart, it's not off-putting, doesn't get soapy or acidic - perhaps that's what I associate with Etro... the absence of soapiness.
For some reason I'm having a bit of a hard time reporting on durability and silage these days, I may do that another time.

I find the fragrance special and familiar - ah, a bit of lavender came along - masculine by all means, but I'd wear it too... the occasion hasn't quite revealed itself to me yet, but there's still some in my sample bottling.... like all my fragrance discoveries this winter, Sandalo has something personal and classic about it... he invites once again to a time travel, but is in no way old-fashioned.

Very nice. Lands on my list.

as Moscow Mule disguised wintery private cuddle sandal
After reading a rousing commentary on this fragrance here, my curiosity was captured. All the more so because you can't even test it in a perfumery around the corner... ...and the price did make me respect the blind purchase. And as it is, once the olfactory fantasy is activated - he wouldn't let go of me, and I kept reading here to see if there were new descriptions, or even enchantments to be found... (interestingly enough, the cucumber aspect, which some of you are talking about here, completely slipped my mind)
So my heartfelt thanks go first of all to the dear Parfumo, who sent me a bottling and who sent me on a fragrance journey for this colder weekend in difficult times.

So here is my first impression: in the evening spraying very sparingly, not yet a far-reaching cloud, just a little bit for me to sniff in between.
Beginning: surprisingly fresh, quite tart spice - phew? Shouldn't Sandel be cuddly cuddly? My association is Moscow Mule without ginger and limes, but with wood instead.
Okay. I recall my fondness for warm woody skin and molecular scents... may yet become...
It does
Course of events: again and again I sniff after. The cool freshness gives way, the tart herb is joined by a gentle sweetness, the scent becomes increasingly cuddly. Iris and violet are added, very discreetly, without it becoming flowery.
Later: warm, cuddly, tender-sweet, makes me feel nostalgic, some trace of memory of a homely and calming moment of life is activated, the scent becomes more skin-tight and more personal
The next morning: the perfect "just out of bed", still there, but completely one with the wearer.

Oh, how nice!
At the same time tested on men, because the fragrance initially seemed rather masculine to me (also because of the feedback of a very pleasant scent) - but overall I would classify it as a harshly starting unisex fragrance

AND: with this one, the soapy accent that often occurs with sandal scents is completely absent.

I guess I'm thrilled.

more than just a "skin scent"
I've been in the marketplace now and then, looking for a new aura scent... whenever I think that maybe a new variation of old moods and emotional states in combination with new experiences, light, season and what else I do not know... can also have a new fragrance, which then gives the whole composition of experiences a corresponding overall impression. Quasi as a marker in my biographical memory.
So in the last few weeks I oscillated back and forth between my latest discoveries of sample ordering and could not decide where the journey should go now (among others the two versions of Not a Perfume and Molecule 04 were also in the race...).

Interestingly, I initially dismissed the two monoscents E and G (reissued with A Lab on Fire) as nice, almost below the perception limit, but I had the monoscent E checked off as one of "these Molecule 01" variations (quite nice, but I have M01 and don't want to replace it). If you layer both, the monoscent E is also more effective for me.
But what about the Monoscent G? A delicate, pleasant musky-nothing. Nice, ok.
From time to time I hang up the phone again (maybe I still like it) and almost didn't notice it... but then they came to visit me. Scent-mood memories from times long gone. A nerval musk runs inconspicuously through the picture in the periphery, but also something else... very old, very long ago, as close to the body as the fragrance itself, are also these strange "Felt Senses". Yes, what is that? Just as these scents are supposed to activate and accentuate the very own body odor and "pheromones" (to be honest, I don't know much about that word), this scent brings up memory fragments only just above the limit of perception. And because it seems so inaccessible to language, one could almost think it has a more right-hemispherical effect in the brain, appealing to the emotional memory, but not tangible. Very pleasant... and probably really unique. That's a good point!

And because he came so close to me after all, I decided to include him in my collection.

Chic, flowery, elegant
A very good friend wears the original AE. Proud, strong character, assertive, with a lot of style and class. I associate many memories of a special phase of life with this friendship, accompanied by AE. We live far away from each other. In case I miss them or want to get into the state of mind and spirit of that time, I bought a very small bottle of it. Then I spray it on a cloth and leave it somewhere. You cannot carry it yourself. This powerful scent takes me down and flings me around... ...carrying me, not the other way around

All the more joyful-curious I turned to Aromatics White. Could there be a variant that would be more digestible and more portable for me?
I think so
It is not a fragrance for "just for once", wants to be chosen consciously and for me it only fits in the cold season. Which is why I actually find White kind of coherent... on a snowy sunny day I can imagine it as a fragrant companion on a walk. But also on a festive occasion.
The floral prelude is elegant, violets and roses are full, adult, not old-fashioned - tends to be sweet, but not heavy - then rather fresh.
Patchouli doesn't catch on with me, in the course of time the scent becomes more body-hugging, gently powdery, carried by musk and benzoin, even if I can't smell it explicitly.

Concerning the Sillage you should be careful with the dosage, so that the elegant lady does not turn into a thundered diva ;-) The shelf life is also quite good - for me it is just right, noticeable during the whole day, in the evening it is only very discreetly flattering, but never trivial in the background. The white flacon a wintery cashmere sweater understatement.

I like the fragrance very much, I don't wear it very often, but if I do, I enjoy it.

Life story
The memory of this fragrance and its wearer is formative in every respect. Probably even for how my biographical memory works to this day in relation to light and scent experiences. Perhaps the origin of my perfume lover.

I can still picture him clearly. Combine him with down-to-earthness, security and warmth. Not necessarily a typical association with musk scent. He was not musty at all. Discreet and solemn, perhaps
And most likely combined with cigarette smoke - at that time they all smoked.

If it still existed, I would have kept it in the closet for the occasional time travel.
If there is a fragrance twin, I would be happy about a tip.
