Looking forward to the edp
Unfortunately, this is my third and last of Hermès in my collection. To me, the house Hermès is very special, because they have made one of the best male scents ever: Terre de Hermès. TdH is a true classic, and it will be around for many years, I hope. When it comes to Hermès as a brand they have not yet disappointed me. The quality and uniqueness of the scents I know is indisputable. I hope to get to know more of their fragrances over time.
24 Faubourg has a deep spicy/woody expression. It performs so well on my skin and it keeps warming up, giving away more and more notes. The flowers add sweetness, the bergamot and orange freshness and the landing with the amber and vanilla is great. It lasts more than six hours on my skin.
The bottle is beautiful.
Knowing the edt and loving it I am looking forward to testing the edp if I can get my hands on it.

At Istanbul Airport
What is a must for every Parfumo member at an airport? Right, a visit to a duty-free shop.

After my vacation in Turkey, I recently came across this enchanting EdT. At Istanbul Airport, I had quite a bit of time since I (as always) checked in very early. So I used my time to indulge my passion in the duty-free and test fragrances.

I immediately spotted the shelves of Hermès, and of course, I was drawn there right away. And when I saw this wonderful bottle of 24 Faubourg, I thought, “Yes, finally I can test it!” because I had had this ladies' classic on my agenda for far too long.

[...]

I quickly grabbed the bottle and examined it first. A salesperson approached me swiftly and wanted to entice me with Tom Ford instead. In his cute English, he tried to convince me:
“Sir, this perfume is for women. Let me show you Tom Ford perfumes, best brand ever... You know Oud Wood?”

Hmm, okay. I smiled and grinned at him:
“I know, Sir. Tom Ford is the best man in the world (he might have recognized the irony from my wink).

“But I prefer classical French brands...
And I don’t care if it’s for women, men, or aliens...”
(His expression suggested he could interpret that quite seriously).

He was still friendly and polite, and he left me alone after that. This allowed me to test this fragrance among others, and I was immediately very taken with it...
(Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed I was being watched by him...).

[...]

24 Faubourg EdT radiates that classic charisma which I so appreciate and love, something I also find wonderful in ladies' fragrances. It has nothing youthful or girlish about it; rather, it is a thoroughly adult and ladylike scent. The opening already reveals what you’re dealing with here, a very self-assured and exquisite perfume.

It starts off slightly fresh-fruity with a distinctly perceptible bitter and almost “Hermès-typical” orange for me. This comes across very naturally, like an orange that has been lying under the sun for quite a while. I felt immediately comfortable, as if someone were hugging me and saying, “Come on, everything will be alright...”.

As it develops, the classic floral bouquet takes center stage. The scent becomes floral, and I find it opulent, yet not overwhelming. I particularly perceive the hyacinth, which gives the perfume a captivatingly intense aroma with a slight sweetness. Time and again, a hint of jasmine and gardenia wafts into my nose. The scent remains fabulously classic and retains its elegant seriousness.

The whole thing is rounded off with oriental accords in the base. Amber and vanilla ensure that it maintains its sensuality. Here, the flowers recede a bit into the background, but they never completely disappear. I still catch whiffs of floral accords every now and then.

[...]

I recommend not to spray too much of this fragrance, as I find it projects strongly and fills spaces very well. The longevity on my skin is also impressive at 8-9 hours.

It seems to me personally best suited for cooler days in spring and autumn. When applied discreetly, I think it is just as suitable for everyday use as for the evening hours, where I see it best.

[...]

After a while, the salesperson returned:
“Sir, you really like French perfumes. You only tested those ones. Here you have some samples... Have a good flight...”

Indeed, he handed me a small bag with many different samples, including two of the 24 Faubourg EdT. I certainly didn’t expect that. How happy I was...
I naturally thanked him politely and left the store with a broad grin...

[...]

Conclusion:

My vacation was wonderful. Istanbul is a breathtaking city, and I can only warmly recommend everyone to visit it when they have the chance. And being spoiled with this little gift of samples was, in that sense, the icing on the cake.

Finally, I was able to test 24 Faubourg, whose name, by the way, refers to the address of Hermès' headquarters in Paris, namely 24 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré. It is also available in both EdP and parfum concentrations, which I do not know.

The EdT, however, is a beautiful, floral, and slightly oriental classic ladies' fragrance that radiates an elegant, attractive, and feminine aura with a lot of shine.

And if the enchantingly beautiful and stylish former Princess Diana (may the Lord rest her soul) referred to this scent as one of her favorites, then I think, “Yes, it suits a lady like her excellently...”
(incidentally, this can be read in the book "Royal Duty" by Paul Burrell, her former butler).

7 Nightingales have resigned...

… when I sang because I like the scent so much. But that’s nonsense now in February, as they are still hanging out in Africa. However, I will try again in May and hopefully they won’t get earache or immediately head back south. Then it will be more like: “Nightingale, I hear you rustling.”
But 24, Faubourg doesn’t rustle, it scents!
Launched in 1995 and from the world-renowned house of Hermès. Every Parisian has known the address since 1879. 24, Faubourg, Saint-Honoré. A large corner building with the famous shop of the company. Hermès was known for bags, scarves, saddles, watches, and jewelry. In 1961, they decided to produce perfume as well, and so the first scent “Calèche” came onto the market.
Actually, the address is easy to find if you have a GPS. Otherwise, just ask again after Aachen and drive around the linden tree at the border and then straight ahead.
24, Faubourg starts with hyacinth peach. Of course, I know that there are no hyacinth peaches (in case some know-it-alls show up here). You have to imagine it like this: A blooming hyacinth on the table (they smell intoxicating and sometimes you’d rather put them in the broom closet), along with rubbing yourself with a peach, eating orange salad, and hanging lovely yellow ylang flowers on your ears.
All of this together creates a room-filling conglomerate.
The Frenchwoman with the street name is certainly not shy. Are there even shy Frenchwomen? I have 2 friends in France, and they are not. However, before we got to know each other better and became good friends (both ladies do not know each other), they acted as if they were direct descendants of Louis VI. Do you know how silly that can sound when a Frenchwoman and a German are conversing in English? One can’t speak French and the other can’t speak German. Also, I always have a hissing problem with “th”.
Back to “not shy.” So in May, sit on the bench at 24, Faubourg with a huge bouquet of flowers where no single bloom stands out. Please during the day, so that no nightingale falls from the branch in the park, as it is taking its nap, since they sing at night. Otherwise, they would be called dayingales.
If you doze off on the bench now, it might happen that the Marquis de Patchouli appears to you in your dream, breathes vanilla-scented air on you, and rubs you with amber cream.
So always stay awake and never disturb the nightingales.

Open the Windows!
Ah yes,… I often rave about the brand Hermès and have therefore tested all sorts of fragrances in the past, but I have yet to try 24 Faubourg… what a shame! Especially since this fragrance is incredibly popular! This needs to be remedied quickly… ah yes, I can already hear you all sighing and saying, “Oh no! DonJuanDeCat has discovered this fragrance too and will definitely give his two cents on it!”
Yes! I will! So be quiet and just read. You can complain about me later :D
And don’t roll your eyes all the time!

24 Faubourg is, by the way, the address of the Hermès headquarters in Paris, which is why this fragrance is named after this address in the famous (and expensive) shopping arcade Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, similar to Chanel’s fragrance 31 Rue Cambon (… which teaches you that in French, house numbers are apparently mentioned first :D).

The Fragrance:
The fragrance starts off mainly floral, but fortunately not in a stuffy way, even though most of the floral notes here are heavy. Because despite the slightly sultry Ylang-Ylang, the fragrance does not smell overwhelming, which is probably due to the combination with the other fragrance notes. For example, you can still smell hyacinths, but above all, there is still neroli. For a short moment, you can even smell bergamot, but it quickly gets overshadowed by the other, heavier fragrance notes. When sprayed, you have the feeling that there are aldehydes in it, but that is just the somewhat mature impression of the fragrance, which is likely mainly caused by the Ylang-Ylang and the also heavy neroli. However, this mature and classically scented fragrance smells quite good and not at all like one would derogatorily say is “grandma-like.”
Later on, you mainly smell heavy neroli and floral notes (with Ylang-Ylang still in the foreground). All the other listed fragrance notes cannot really be distinguished, but their presence surely contributes to a more complex and beautiful fragrance structure. I think the iris, for example, gives the fragrance its soft, almost slightly powdery note, and the jasmine adds a non-overwhelming, yet noticeable sweetness. Later, or towards the end, the fragrance becomes softer and gentler, which is certainly due to the vanilla, which always makes fragrances nice and soft and also powdery. The sweetness is now a bit stronger, but still, the fragrance is not very sweet. Neroli and floral notes can still be smelled very well, and a little later, “a dollop” of earthy patchouli is added.

The Sillage and Longevity:
The sillage is strong, and you don’t have to get close to smell the fragrance on someone. It is also room-filling, leaving a long scent trail behind.
You can already guess that the longevity of this fragrance is really strong. It lasts easily a minimum of ten hours or so.

The Bottle:
The bottle is rectangular in shape but has inwardly pressed side surfaces, making it look like a coat of arms or a figure, and thus more aesthetically pleasing than “normal rectangular” bottles. Additionally, the bottle features a beautiful floral pattern, which makes it even more attractive. The neck is rectangular and gilded, and on top sits the also gilded cap, which is slightly hemispherical and resembles a lampshade. There is no label; instead, the fragrance name is elegantly written at the bottom edge of the bottle.

So, with that, this fragrance is also “checked off”! :D
I quite liked it, as it belongs to the well-crafted fragrances of the “mature” and classically styled types. Of course, one must like such a fragrance to enjoy it, as these scents do not suit everyone’s (anyone’s??) taste. Especially among younger people, it might seem a bit out of place, but that’s a matter of taste.

In any case, it is a very testable fragrance that has a somewhat autumnal feel and is especially suitable for special or evening occasions. If one wants to wear it during the day (for example, at work), one should definitely apply it sparingly, unless you want to fog up the entire office :D

Because even though it smells good, some might be bothered by the strength of the fragrance. And since, as mentioned, it is more suitable for autumn and winter, colleagues who are suffocating from the scent would open the windows and continue working, shivering and trembling in the icy air, but also cursing extremely :D

At least that’s what I think… :DD
So be careful!

Highly Stylized Elegance - With a Wink
This fragrance has accompanied me for almost 10 years.

It can be somewhat overwhelming at times, as the flowers are so opulent, supported by the base. The initial hyacinth note is very dominant. Allergy sufferers should definitely test the fragrance on a paper strip.

I can pick out ylang-ylang. The bergamot comes across as almost dusty and adds little freshness in this case, more of a hint of soap in a distant sense.

24, Faubourg is not forced in its elegance, but you can tell that there is a stylized concept behind the fragrance. I can imagine it on Vivien Leigh, who wore Joy by Jean Patou. Why Vivien Leigh? She looked like a lady and was one, came from a good family, yet was not a typical woman of her time - she worked 16 hours a day on the set of Gone with the Wind and oscillated between fragility, intensity, melancholy, and great energy. Sometimes bold; with strong will, she embodied her roles with great individuality and passion. This ladylike elegance is hardly embodied by anyone today, yet this fragrance gives a hint of it.

It is classic and wants to be so. It feels good to wear it with a bit of self-irony. One should not mind being in the spotlight. The projection is convincing for an Eau de Toilette and should not be underestimated. Nevertheless, it comes across as serious, and its old-fashioned note does not seem out of place. I wouldn't assign it to a specific occasion; I have worn it both at the theater and in the autumn, alone, outside, while walking. Somehow it fits this season.
For friends of silence and gentleness, it is probably not the right choice, but exceptions confirm the rule. However, a touch of melancholy resonates in the floral blend.

I can identify gardenia and jasmine, as well as orange blossom, which is on the verge of being perceived as stuffy. The gardenia is well captured for me. I once owned a specimen and thus know the natural scent of the flower, which is somewhat more animalistic. The base is truly warm and minimally earthy. Even from a small bottle, one will have it for a long time. The next morning, you can still smell a kind of "afterglow."

I find the bottle, inspired by the brand's silk scarves, fitting. It represents the concept well. Just as a silk scarf can add a touch of femininity to a rather functionally elegant outfit, this fragrance can briefly interrupt the fast-paced routine of everyday life, only to later blend in effortlessly.

Thank you for reading. And possibly much joy in testing it.

Too pungent. And very old, grandma-ish smell. On skin it's kind of redeemable, but still very "vintage".

It's so opulent that one might think is appropriate only for the opera. I say surprise everyone by wearing with jeans and a t-shirt.
