Marwa vs Imagination
I'm gonna make this review very simple for people to understand how close AP Marwa is compared to LV Imagination. First off, at the time I'm writing this, Imagination is $350 compared to a mere $50 for Marwa. That's a 7x price difference. Now, what do you get for this enormous difference in price? Well, not much to be honest, other than the prestigious Louis Vuitton logo. I'm gonna break down the subtle differences from the opening to the dry-down:
First 10 Mins: 80% Similarity
Imagination has this sparkling effervescent quality, due to the vibrant citrus accords. This is the biggest difference between the two. However, Marwa leans more towards the tea note, and it's not as bright as Imagination. It's also a little bit sweeter and more dull in the opening comparatively.
30 Mins Later: 90% Similarity
As the top notes fade, they become even more similar. Imagination smells a bit more watery and airy, while Marwa smells a bit more ambery. In the air, it's incredibly hard to tell the difference unless you're smelling both of them side by side. Marwa doesn't change much from the opening, as it's pretty linear.
1 Hour Later: 95% Similarity
At this point of the dry-down, you cannot tell the difference between Marwa and Imagination. It's almost identical in scent unless you have a really good sense of smell. I guarantee almost nobody will know which one is which.
Conclusion:
The only big difference between these two fragrances is in the first 10 mins - Imagination sparkles more with brighter citruses, while Marwa is flatter in the opening. After an hour, they smell almost exactly the same. Is that worth a $300 difference?? Well, it depends if you have money to blow, but personally I own a full bottle of both and I'm not buying another bottle of Imagination. In terms of performance, the longevity is about the same, but Imagination projects more in the first hour. I think Marwa is the best bang for your buck if you like the Imagination DNA!
