does indeed smell like a durian
this does smell like a durian BUT it is not terrible. the moment you spray it you get HIT with the STRONG SMELL of durian, it's sort of smells like gasoline, skunk, and sewage, but it quickly settles down into a more wearable, almost lactonic scent. it's surprisingly pleasant despite the undercurrent of durian, and i'd imagine that if i grew up eating durian, this would be wonderful, wearable version of the delicious fruit. it's creamy and light and i'd say it's also perfectly unisex, and it certainly has the most interesting start to any perfume i've ever worn. with all this being said, yes, it does smell a little bit like a durian for around 30 to 40 minutes, so expect that.

spicy, clean oakmoss
i never thought i’d consider such a mossy fragrance to also smell clean, but here i am. this starts off very neroli/ginger forward before becoming extremely mossy on me. i can’t really pick out any citrus, but it does have an overall “clean” scent that i’d probably attribute to the bergamot and blood orange. i don’t get much leather from this, mostly moss, and it does have the typical Pineward DNA. it’s pleasant and well balanced, good for everyday wear, and has pretty decent sillage. probably one of the more safe fragrances from Pineward

powdery mushroom
this smells like i took a babybella mushroom and doused it in baby powder, which is not an insult. it's quite nice actually, and has good sillage for a perfume with such a heavy soil/mushroom scent, something that i've found to be fleeting. it has a slight metallic lean, like the smell of dirty change, and the hinoki adds a pleasant woodiness to it. i sprayed this in my elbow to test and i found myself getting occasional whiffs of it throughout my day, which was nice, but it isn't nearly as earthy as i'd hope (not saying it isn't earthy, it is, i just have high expectations). i've tried a few mushroom fragrances and this is certainly the strongest of them

oily mechanic
i appreciate this perfume for correctly advertising itself as one scented with a specific type of car oil as opposed to just "fuel" or "gasoline", which is the downfall of many other mechanic-y type perfumes. it certainly does smell exactly like motor oil, which is OK because i knew that coming in, and it does have a heavy tinge of frankincense. i've tested about 4 or 5 perfumes with motor oil/fuel/gasoline as a note, and this one is certainly more tolerable as a fragrance than many others (excluding Me/dea, an absolutely amazing fragrance that gets high marks from me). i don't necessarily get the air or metal accords, but the oud does help balance the synthetic-oily nature of this. it's sexy, woody, and does indeed smell like a mechanic. would i wear it daily? no, absolutely not, but it certainly invokes what it was going for.

dusty, sweaty church bake sale
me and my friend decided to review this together. we both grew up catholic in the midwest, and something about this scent certainly encapsulated that feeling. it smells like a church bake sale in a basement. it is musty, beautiful, and nostalgic, with a light spiciness to it to prevent it from being TOO powdery. i have complicated feelings about my religious upbringing, and this perfume brings those to mind. it is bittersweet. certainly not one for everyday wear, but a beautiful artistic experience nonetheless, and one with good performance!
