Some recent top-rated reviews are stolen from other sites

I found out when I opened the page for Jovan Sex Appeal and realized that the top-rated review, submitted by user L1mer1n, is in fact my own review, which I wrote 6 days earlier on  a "competing" website/community, the one whose name starts with B. 

I went to check their other reviews, so far looked at two - Vert des Bois by Tom Ford and Idole d'Armani by Giorgio Armani. Both are stolen from different users who published them a few days earlier on the B website. And that's not all: Idole D'Armani features another review by user Hollywoodien, which is copying the same exact review. In other words there are two copies of the same stolen review, word for word, one below the other. No credit is given anywhere.

What's interesting is that all of those stolen reviews are labeled as top-rated.

This to me suggests two possibilities:

1. This whole thing is done by Parfumo itself. But that seems like a profoundly dumb choice of action.

2. It's a group of bots which, apart from stealing other people's content, also give each other ratings. (I have no idea how ratings on Parfumo work, I'm not an active user)

The fact that Hollywoodien is a permanently disabled account (with "expected deletion", uhm, yesterday?) would suggest the latter. The question is, why would anybody do that? I don't see any covert marketing inserted in the reviews. The only use I see is damaging Parfumo by annoying users like me, but that is too tinfoil-hatty for me right now.

I wrote the stolen review for free, so it's not like I'm losing any money over this, it's more that I care about the principle. Ordnung muss sein. 

Maybe the Fra$#*t$@ nazis are trying to ruin this site? I know Tovarich Elena K. acted like she sat on a sharp tack when I once mentioned Parfumo in one review on that site, a review that said nothing negative about either site. I just mentioned that the pyramid of notes I saw on Parfumo had different notes than the one on the F-site and I wasn't sure which was correct. She erased that review and warned me to never speak of Parfumo again. Which means they're pretty afraid of the competition. Wouldn't put anything past those weirdos. 

Could also be someone who has multiple accounts on different sites and is just reposting their own content. It doesn't ruin Parfumo for me in any way. The people I see and speak to on here, I respect and consider their opinions, even if we don't always share the same tastes or don't see eye to eye on everything.

I, for example, have an account on Fragrantica too, and I post the same reviews there that I post here on Parfumo. So yeah, there are definitely plenty of people who have accounts on multiple sites and just post the same reviews, but just the same there's certainly people who steal and copy-paste others reviews. A bit hard to pinpoint and tell the difference between these two possibilities. 

Could be coincidence, but I saw this sentence that I wrote here on Diva used in a review by someone on the F-site. I deleted my account there, but sometimes visit the site to look up things I can't find here (with mixed feelings I must say)

It was this sentence:

' It's way too 'transcendent' for it to be placed in any era I think; It is only vintage in the way it outperformes the linear, boring scents of today'

with only one or two words left out, maybe not to 'get caught'...

Again: could be coincidence, can't prove anything and I don't really care, but I find the sentence a bit too specific for it to come up in two different minds on the same fragrance. It was done by someone who writes almost books about fragrances on the F...site, so maybe she just picks phrases of other reviews from different sites and put them together. I don't know and I don't feel the energy to investigate . 

This is clearly a troll. Just report these cases and we'll review it and delete it. Such behavior is absolutely unacceptable.

Do you have any idea why this is done? Do you think it's just to make your site look bad if, after a while, somebody notices? Because for 99% of users it doesn't really make the experience worse.
