Hello all, I’m a recently reformed fragrance hater. I always thought of fragrances in terms of department store perfume & cologne that stinks to high heaven and suffocates you in an elevator. I’m not sure why, but I was inspired to pick up a sample set from Kilian to see what the fuss was about. It was a great starting point for me, and my first exposure to fragrance with at least some complexity and nuance. I’m still mostly sampling or buying travel sizes as I discover what works for me. What’s surprised me most is how fragrance can lift your mood and change your day for the better. The story and artistry can be so inspiring. Looking forward to trying more and developing my preferences. 

Hello everyone! My name is Malyk! I'm new to everything fragrance! Never thought about it, didn't care any kind of way about it... but now I've come to really appreciate it all! This started after I found out about Black Opium Eau de Parfum and Flora Gorgeous Jasmine ! I always associated perfume/colognes with the cloud that follows people.. flowery, powdery and sour. I know now that it's not completely like that. xD. I'm always open to learning and trying new things!

Hello there! I'm, ah... well, I'm many things. I'm an author, a poet, an actor, a queer. An AuDHD-er with an ever-growing desire for sensual pleasures and storytelling. I never thought of fragrance much in this way, until I did, and now I do! My first endeavour was with a Heretic sample set, the Garden of Earthly Delights, and Blood Berry took me on such a wonderfully terrible trip that I think I'm hooked for life.

Now I'm enjoying a few delicious decants from Serge Lutens, and planning a purchase from Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab, which was the first house that piqued my interest some time ago before I had the funds to try them out. And I'm happy to be here in this community with others like you. Please don't be shy, I live for connecting with others! I hope to get to know you and your favorite fragrance well! <3

hi! i’m a 21 year old student based in oxford/london outside of fragrance, i mainly spend my time studying, but like to make art and read when i have the time.

i’m pretty new (both on parfumo, and to fragrance in general). i never used to give much thought to the fragrances i use, but after one night where some friends were speaking passionately about fragrance and let me sample their collection, i went home and looked at my fragrances in an entirely new light… i was almost instantly obsessed!

learning how to experience and identify fragrance better has felt like opening a new dimension, each scent tied to emotion, atmosphere and vivid imagery. i’m still a total novice at identifying particular notes or putting my observations into the right words, but i am just at the beginning of a longer journey: i own many miniatures that i am yet to test properly, as well as a number of samples recently gifted to me! i’m also excited to visit more fragrance boutiques in london and expand my knowledge of both designer and niche perfumes. i might even start a blog - it may be fun to look back on in time...

i’m looking forward to learn more about perfume science and make new friends in the fragrance community! nice to meet everyone - and please reply if you have any advice for someone new to the hobby/using parfumo, are also from the UK or just want to connect over our interest in fragrance

Hello! I'm Gabriel. I'm a California based uni student, studying microbiology. In my free time I like to draw, hike, and enjoy my local music scene.

I became interested in fragrance when I noticed the scent of the lotion and shampoo at my hotel job, lol. That same week I happened to sample Glossier You Doux and was totally hooked. I love the way fragrance helps me curate my identity, and it's so thrilling to indulge in my sense of smell! Plus, the chemistry is fun to learn about. Unique and unisex scents are my favorites. 

More than anything I want to explore all that perfumery has to offer and share my interests with others.

I'm a 33 year old balkaner with several hobbies like mountain biking, cutlery and as of 6 months fragrances. Never had that much of an interest in fragrances, I usually wear odorless deodorant. I'd usually wear Fahrenheit Eau de Toilette to formal occasions once or twice a year, and even that I was a gift from a friend over 15 years ago. One such occasion was fairly recently and had me wondering what else is out there and like with any interest I went off the deep end on a spending spree.

Luckily every blind buy has been a success so far, so I don't really have regrets apart from having a few "overlapping" fragrances. I have since figured out what I like and have slowed down considerably, in fact I really want to use up/get rid of a few bottles before committing to a new one. I mostly buy samples, to try new stuff, but if I do decide to pull the trigger on a bottle it sure as heck will be a small one.

Hello, I am from Virginia and new to parfumo, and also kinda new to taking fragrance a bit more seriously. All I had on my shelf was a bottle I snagged on a whim at tjmaxx which doesn't smell very good, and a cologne I got at a gift shop one time. 

It just started as a passing curiosity, with a bit of reading, and now I have dozens of decants I'm trying, as well as logging my experience in my own spreadsheet. Hopefull I'll find the scents that are best for me. Sampling everything has been a lot fo fun so far, and it's a cool new experience!

My irl friends don't really care much about it though...

Hey yall nice to be here. Pretty new to the site but enjoying it so far. Hoping to make some mutuals on here and participate in the community! I'm trying not to buy too much and using work rewards points for all my purchases so far but trying to learn and engage in the hobby in other ways too (testing at the mall, reading, doing stuff here, and an experiment on RateYourMusic where I try and create fragrance profiles for albums - DM if interested in this!). My journey with caring about fragrance for myself came from a video called Why Now Is a Bad Time To Get Into Fragrance but I did it anyway because I love how that guy writes and it sounded like something I might enjoy. Sure enough, I do. First bottle I got after some testing was Valentino Uomo Born in Roma which I really liked for its soft, gentle, floral qualities just how it connected with my own story. I think the one that turned me into a fraghead was Black Orchid... Oud Wood a little bit too, but mostly Black Orchid. Its depth and fragrance were just so fascinating and good. It was the next bottle I ordered with my reward points (in the mail on its way here now!). Nice to meet you all - give me a follow and DM and I'll follow you back!

I’m ShellySmelly and I am new here! So far as I learn how to navigate the website I am loving it. I have always loved fragrance and the strong sense of place/people/memory certain smells can evoke.  

I am currently trying to work out my personal fragrance preferences, as for many years I only had one little bottle of CK Obsession. I have since realized how much I love fresh, light, green scents, but am also always looking for the next unusual new smell. Exploring new fragrances has opened up a whole new world to explore and I’m excited to keep at it, while also trying not to break the bank!

I love reading reviews and seeing what associations and emotions other people have in response to different scents. It’s especially interesting when we disagree!

hello, my name is kitty and i'm fairly new to the whole perfume scene and this site! got my first 'high-end' perfume recently and fell in love with gourmand/sweet scents! i've always been a lover of nice smelling lotions, especially ones that make me smell like a batch of fresh cookies. though i thought it was time to venture out into the world of perfume. it sure is a lot to take in!

funnily enough, i was born with a cogenital defect that affects my sense of smell. i can smell certain things, but only if they're SUPER close to my face lol i have my fiance to help sometimes with certain notes, but gourmand scents are ones that pop out the most to me! thank goodness they're my favorite. 

currently gathering my hoard and finding the right perfume for daily wear and all kinds of other things! the reviews here have been so helpful with picking the right perfume nice to meet everyone

Hello from rainy Seattle! I’m a white floral addict making the leap over here from that other perfume site (we all know the one). I'm hoping to find a community focused on meaningful, elevated fragrance discussion and less dominated by AI nonsense and trolls who haven't yet grasped the meaning of punctuation.

I've been a perfume lover for many years, but only recently have I gone back to purchase the ones I felt I shouldn't wear because of gender marketing. Now I don't give a rip whether a bottle is marketed to men or to women. I buy and wear exactly what I like, and anyone who doesn't appreciate my fabulous scent bubble is free to sit by someone else. I suppose that's the absolute liberation your 40s will bring you!

I very much love old-school powerhouse fragrances that have enough sillage and projection to alter weather patterns and send skin scents running for the hills. Give me White Diamonds, Halston, Youth Dew, etc. over anything "polite" any day.

I am from south of Germany.

For years I was having a Eau de Cologne/After Shave collection, since I was interessted in the old-smelling fragrances. 

I've been discovering a new for me fragrance world for about a year now. At the moment I am really into artisinal stuff, since I figured out, that, that they are nearly always much more daring, interessting and just well-done. In additiotion to it, if I already willing to pay hundrets for something I want the money to go to the smaller artist rather then to some big houses as Chanel or LV.

Hello, some of you might know me as Woody Limelight, thanks to the well-known "parfum doll" photos, in which a wooden doll frequently takes center stage together with a miniature perfume.

Actually my whole life I love perfumes... but this doesnt mean I have more then 100 perfumes... no, I just have around the 20 perfumes for myself (this is not including the minatures), its bc very simple reason, I just wear daily one of my just 3 fav perfumes and the rest I actually only look at... so to me, around the 20 perfumes to have are more then enough. 

I like mostly Woody scents and Almond is also a fav note to me... however I love clean sheets perfumes also a lot, one of my fav is Musc from Maison Crivelli.
