Visiting Japan in a few months and looking for some Japanese perfume houses or stores to check out when I'm there! 🙏
Japanese perfume houses?
I don't know but this was just recommended to me today. I didn't watch it but figured I'd share since you're asking about just this.
Di Ser, J-Scent, Ko Gu are the first that come to mind. But it's a bit tricky finding them, as perfumes have only recently started to be popular here. You should check out department stores like Takashimaya, Isetan and Daimaru and contact customer service there before your trip. I live here and even I struggle sometimes to find stuff. Tokyo and Kyoto generally have more access.
If you visit Osaka, check out the second floor of Hanshin Umeda Department store. Amritara and some other small shops there carry Japanese perfume. And Nose Shop in Lucua 1011 4th floor in Osaka Umeda JR Station carries Ko-Gu. If you climb to the 9th floor of that building, there`s a big open space with many kinds of stores and there are many Japanese perfumes there as well.
Btw, Di Ser customer service is a bit weird and standoffish. I emailed them recently to ask if I could purchase a perfume listed on their site and to ask if I could also buy samples, and they basically told me "we are very busy." So, there's that. But Amritara staff are friendly and they will help you sample the limited Di Ser products they carry.
One I haven't seen mentioned yet is Parfum Satori! Satori-san is French trained but focuses on Japanese flora. I'm dying to get my nose on her work. Look her up!
There's also Osaji, which has limited collections. They've just released a new cocoa perfume. It's available online, but I bet you can find it in bigger cities like Tokyo. Or order online. Most hotels here can accept deliveries from Kuro Neko Yamato.
Unfortunately, I can't speak from personal experience as I haven't been able to test them here in Europe yet, but I have added some Japanese brands to the database and have therefore familiarised myself with their fragrances. Here are a few where I find the fragrances exciting, at least in terms of the composition:
▪︎ Yubune with e.g. Take Parfum or
Tsuki
▪︎ Mucha with e.g. Polar Star
▪︎ROAliv with e.g. Yoigekka
▪︎ Ahres with e.g. #My Anarchism
▪︎ Baum with e.g. Woodland Winds
▪︎ Ablxs with e.g. Aurora
▪︎ çanoma with e.g. 8-17- Matsukaze
▪︎ No Brainer with e.g. Melt Into Midnight
▪︎ Waroma Style with e.g. Mitsuru - Dai Roku Tenmaō - Scent of Oda Nobunaga
▪︎ Aíam with e.g. Chapter 18
Also Mount Fuji has its own perfume wich sounds lovely: Fuji

oh this is true actually. I only realized everyone was so big on perfume when i moved to europe. Ive lived in Australia Canada and Asia and it doesnt seem like that big a thing. Especially asia it seems asians from asia don't make it a habit to don some perfume before leaving home. My asian friends in europe however are quite into the perfumes
Have you finished your trip yet?
Basically, it's as Raluko111SAN said. Shinjuku is the most convenient place to get to.You can't go wrong with Lumine Shinjuku.
If you get lost at Shinjuku Station just ask people around you and they'll help you find your way out.Good luck!
