So many great vetivers...

by Omni | Perfumes by Note, Accord, Genre
...I am not familiar with Annick Goutal's Vetiver but good things are said. I bought a bottle (on one of those daily specials) of Lalique's Hommage a L'Homme. It's nice with the violet leaf coming through strongly after half an hour or so. Bought for husband, I could wear it but the vetiver is quite powerful

Help with choosing perfume for my boyfriend
by Omni | Perfume Recommendations
...Annick Goutal"s Sables could be a winner. Habit Rouge is the male equivalent of Shalimar, so much so that when my husband wears it I give up and wear Eau de Shalimar, because it is impossible to compete. Sleuth has provided some that I would have mentioned and Mauboussin M Generation is very nice indeed.

Which perfume will be your next buy ?
by Omni | Perfumes & Brands
...Dulcemio:It might be "Trayee" but not anytime soon, as my disposable income is needed elsewhere at the moment. It's so annoying to not be wealthy. :DTrayee, it reminds me of Tralee, the Rose of Tralee and the song. My Mother was born in Limavady where 'Danny Boy' or 'The Londonderry Air' was written. They were so far removed from wealthy it doesn't bear description, so I hear you Dulcemio

...I have ordered (for Xmas, to me from me) Iris Nobile. My husband wanted a back up bottle of Dior Homme Intense, so that is ordered also. Still on an iris kick (of sorts)

The animalic bad girls

...“I only wear Bal a Versailles when I'm happy and when I'm sad. Sometimes I spritz it when I'm alone. When I have company I consider it obligatory. I trifle with it if I'm not in a hurry and mist it when I am, otherwise I never touch the stuff, unless I have showered

Summery jasmines?
by Omni | Perfume Recommendations
...Okay, the Le Jasmin arrived. I have worn it three days. The first day I didn't get it, it didn't compute. The second day it did but I still sprayed some Grand Amour over the top. On the third day I couldn't do without the Grand Amour to bolster it after wearing it for an hour solo. This is very light and tropical. As with most Goutals it settles down after ten minutes of confused aromas. The exception is Nuit Etoilee, gorgeous from start to finish

Mystery Guerlain: please help identify
by Omni | Perfume Discussions
...Sleuth:Conclusion:The mystery scent was indeed: "L'Heure Bleue" by Guerlain (EDP)But it seems on my skin it smells more like a flowers + amber mix and it didn't impress me as much as the paper strip. Thanks for all you help!Yes, I can see how beguiling the paper strip must have been. But the mysteries must go on, Sleuth, find another!

Recommendations: refined, citric or woody or aromatic scent
by Omni | Perfume Recommendations
...Scarletting:Can't say I agree with Encre Noir - it's a fine enough scent, but not subtle or safe for meetings IMHO.Kenzo Power would be my #1 suggestion. It's smooth, refined wood and spices (don't let the floral note listed scare you off, it's quite masculine). Calm but high saturation - it has an aura but it doesn't beat people over the head. It's also left-field enough that I think it'd be pretty rare to bump into someone else wearing it.Yes, you're right, Scarletting. I have a husband with perfume eating skin, so he's not a good body of comparison (literally haha)

Recommendations: refined, citric or woody or aromatic scent
by Omni | Perfume Recommendations
...Taking a punt, try Terre D'Hermes. It has a high composition of a soft cedar type male fragrance material that is extremely popular. Or Encre Noir by Lalique.
