Made in the thirties, but I associate it with housewives of the fifties and sixties.-The second perfume would be worn by the mistress (or slutty teen daughter) of the man whose wife wore the above fragrance. She ain't no lady.

Not being a French speaker, I have laboriously translated those tricky names and am squeezing the other clues to fit. So, for our friend Joan, I'm bypassing the arsonist perfume, L'incendiaire, on the grounds of poor taste and offer "La Vierge de Fer" (seems to be a thorn/lily/iron maiden reference) for your consideration.The hedgehog-in-hand is a little tricky but in the spirit of playfulness, I offer you "Jeux de Peau" (Skin Games)

...I am making some very tenuous connections here. I know that Lutens La Fille de Berlin was inspired by Marlene Dietrich but that hedgehog-in-hand made me think of by Kilian "Liaisons Dangereuses" (I told you the connection was tenuous). So, from the same house, I'm choosing "Good Girl Gone Bad" for the Dietrich clue (runner up is "Smoke for the Soul"). For Joan of Arc, how about "Light my Fire" or "Straight to Heaven".And I've already mentioned the hedgehog....

...I used to contribute to forum discussions much more than now and would log in every day to check for updates. I also really enjoyed playing Guess That Scent. A combination of factors has led to much less frequent forum contributions, though I still check fragrance reviews quite frequently.- I joined a local Facebook fragrance group for general chat. FB groups have been discussed on another thread somewhere and are not for everyone. Works for me because it's a small but active group with plenty of sale info and chances for swaps etc. within my own country.- Guess That Scent was the subject of anonymous grumblings about game hogs. When the dominant regulars took a step back, the game died. I don't have the motivation to keep it going.- sometimes I don't contribute due to lack of knowledge/experience on a topic.- If responses aren't timely and plentiful, there's a lack of momentum, no one to trade ideas with, and hence many topics just shrivel up, sadly.

My sister is a two bottles at a time kind of person and is still using up the ones given in the previous year, panicking that they might go off. The Triffid sons were gifted a few things during the year and the older one seems open to another new fragrance or two but doesn't seem to want his Christmas allotment to be taken up by perfume.Mr Triffid now has lots but is, I think, feeling a secret shame that he owns all these bottles. I took back the shared ones that were really mine, so that I could show him all that empty perfume real estate! Still, I'll be persuading him to sample things when we go on our trip so there's always more on the horizon.
