Forgotten Perfumes: Nino Cerruti pour Homme Nino Cerruti pour Homme (Eau de Toilette) - Cerruti
by Nicolas78 | Perfumes & Brands
...I'm not a fan of Nino Cerruti PH, but I love 1881 pour Homme (2005) (Eau de Toilette)1881 pour Homme (2005) Eau de Toilette! To me, Nino Cerruti PH smells very dated and stuck in the 70s. I prefer Insensé (Eau de Toilette)Insensé Eau de Toilette which is similar but more floral and also Globe (Eau de Toilette)Globe Eau de Toilette, which is less similar but has the same overall feel.

Second chance fragrances
by Nicolas78 | Perfume Discussions
...Fougère Royale (2010) (Eau de Parfum)Fougère Royale (2010) Eau de Parfum was one I initially disliked, especially in the opening, now it's one of my favourites!Tuscany per Uomo / Etruscan (Eau de Toilette)Tuscany per Uomo Eau de Toilette smelt sort of dirty and earthy, now it still smells quite earthy but I mainly get a lovely, rich geranium note from it. It just smells very authentically of the Mediterranean countryside to me now. I think it's partly over 2 years of oxidation, partly a change in my perception and a broader appreciation of different fragrances that is responsible.Égoïste (Eau de Toilette)Égoïste Eau de Toilette I found overwhelmingly rich and cloying almost to the point of wanting to vomit about half a dozen years ago. With a very light application of a couple of sprays I love wearing it now and find it cosy, comforting and elegant!

Good movies you have recently watched
by Nicolas78 | Off Topic
...I very rarely watch films nowadays, too busy most of the time. Last one was Duel about three weeks ago and before that I went through quite a long Film Noir phase.

How to Macerate Perfume Properly?
by Nicolas78 | Perfume Discussions
...That sounds like oxidation, not maceration. And it happens naturally as more air enters the bottle AFAIK, not sure why you'd want to accelerate the process.

What Notes Are You Tired of Seeing in Perfumes?
by Nicolas78 | Perfumes & Brands
...Sick of ouds and gourmands in general. It's like there's no subtlety in so much of perfumery anymore, everything has to smack you in the face!

Your album with no skips
by Nicolas78 | Off Topic
...I have always been more of an album person than a singles one, so most of the albums in my collection would qualify, really. Anything by my favourite artists: Dead Can Dance, Cocteau Twins and Kate Bush (the only exception being The Red Shoes album). Lots of ambient stuff like The Orb, Brian Eno, Aphex Twin and quite a bit of world music.

What are your loathed fragrance buzzwords
by Nicolas78 | Perfume Discussions
...Ugh, "panty dropper" is just vile! I remember someone using the term "ladykiller fragrances" a few years ago in a list video, which didn't seem anywhere as repulsive. Anyway, can't stand "beast mode" or "nuclear" and the endless nonsense about "performance". Don't get me wrong, if it's someone with a long work day who just wants decent performance that's perfectly understandable, but when it's clearly just an attention-seeking thing it's a bit pathetic, isn't it?

Anyone else excited for autumn?
by Nicolas78 | Off Topic
...I start suffering with SAD in late Autumn so I absolutely hate it, but I love early Autumn and Winter! Winter and Spring are my favourite seasons here in the UK, lots of people seem to hate Winter but you can always wrap up, there's nothing you can really do about extreme Summer heat. The older I get, the less I can stand the heat, maybe it's because I'm quite an active person and it just feels debilitating!
