Great signature scent
First, the review below mine is mistaking this for Egoiste, which is an entirely different fragrance than Platinum Egoiste.

This is a fresh, aromatic fougere. It took me time and experience to know, this is how I want to smell.

Not dated, but different - you won’t smell like everyone else, no Sauvage or Blue type of scent detected.
It smells classy, refined, elegant, clean. It says about the wearer, “I’m well put together”. This is versatile for any occasion and season. Love it!

Classic Fragrance for the Modern Gentleman
After a very negative experience with Egoiste yesterday, today am VERY positive with Platinum Egoiste. Really masculine class act with this one. Fresh and clean fragrance that strikes me as very versatile - could be used year round, and appropriate either for dressing up or casual. Old school type scent yet modern at the same time. And, of course, Chanel quality.

Longevity is about 7 to 8 hours with moderate sillage for a couple of hours.

While Egoiste struck me as way too floral to be appealing to me, Egoiste Platinum, despite all the top and heart floral notes, is more of a green/herbal type of scent with the eventual woody base notes. The woody base dominates toward the tail end of its longevity, when it's down to a skin scent. Mr. Polge really put this one together well. Can highly recommend.

Chanel doing what Chanel does best
In my eyes, Chanel is one of the designer few fragrances houses that makes consistently good products that are unique enough to entice niche lovers, but mass appealing enough to sell well. Platinum Égoïste is the prime example of this, being what I found to be one of the greatest Chanel fragrances ever made. It opens up with an intense, green and spicy fougere-like accord that has a bit of a kick to it. Right off the bat it's quite intense, really leaning into a spicy note that runs parallel with lighter notes, namely lavender. As it dries it develops a cool, damp and woody persona that sort of veers off of the fougere path, and more into a fresh, zingy and woody accord instead. The woody notes really linger in the dry down here, making for an excellent end to a fantastic fragrance. This is really a fantastic fragrance, though I can see it requiring a bit of an acquired taste these days, as it is starting to become more of a classic scent as time goes on. This fragrance is a prime example of why Chanel is so well regarded within the community.

Platinum Égoïste is certainly not your normal green/fresh fragrance, and is becoming quite a classic in the current years, but it still holds it's own immensely well. It finds itself in the category of Chanel masterpieces, at least in my eyes, and is definitely going to become a go-to in my collection. It manages to being a spicier, yet still fresh take on the classic fougere DNA, and is a prime example of why Chanel deserves the love they get.

The scent of a reliable man
This fragrance is and always will be firmly etched into my olfactory memory. My father has been using this fragrance my whole life, and he still renounces any futile naive attempt made by my mother, me or any friend or family to introduce him to a new scent.

Some may say this stubbornness is annoying, but I commend it... For this proves to me two undoubtedly obvious things:

1. This fragrance is as reliable as it can get, it has accompanied my father through the best and the worst of times, through weddings, funerals, long work-days and joy-filled weekends. It has been there, accompanying this man on his journey through life. It has given him the comfort and self esteem when he had to take risks or make tough decisions, but it has also given him the edge to be a fun-loving playful father that he is to me.

2. This is how a man that embodies everything my father is to me smells like, and I would not wish my dad to smell any other way than this.

Platinum Egoiste has been the sole fragrance that sparked my interest in perfumery, it is a scent that symbolises everything a reliable, well-put together, well-mannered, elegant, sophisticated and, nonetheless, loving masculine figure is supposed to be like.

I have always had a mental image of myself as that kind of man, because that´s the man my dad is for me and my family. When I spray Platinum Egoiste, I feel like I am that man. I feel sure of my abilities, I feel sure that I can handle everything that comes my way, and I feel like my dad is there to give me advice if that is needed.

Platinum Egoiste, according to my beautiful girlfriend, smells like someone you can trust, the man that will hug you and tell you that everything is going to be ok, and that is exactly the man I want to be.

Something Chanel can proud of
Egoiste Platinum is one of those fragrances where you have to wait it out in order to understand its brilliance and appeal.

When I first sprayed it, I thought it was yet another sharp citrusy scent combined with lavender, but the more it developed the more amazing it became. I'm almost to the point where I would call this fragrance a major turn-on.

It's refreshing, a little spicy, slightly dry, clean and edgy. It's everything I enjoy in a masculine Summer scent, however due to this fragrance being so versatile, I'd say wear it all year round.

In the heart, I find this fragrance quite zesty, almost like a rich, pulpy orange with a sexy and heady geranium note. This fragrance is actually quite distinctive and unique despite it being so popular.

Egoiste Platinum reeks confidence, charm and comfort. I like the way guest_pippi (Fragrantica member) put it, I too could 'eat a man' wearing this. The drydown is a spectacular blend of woods and aromatic herbs.

The longevity and sillage are equally fabulous, everything that I'd expect from Chanel. It was a pity that the store in which I tested this fragrance didn't have the original Egoiste too, which I've been longing to try since discovering Egoiste Platinum.

My mom got me this for graduation in ‘98. Thank God she did. This is a 90s take on barbershop fougere with a metallic feel. Rotation staple.

Growing up in the 90's, I convinced myself that this is what elegance smelled like. It's 2024, and I still think so.

Less powerful and less clear-cut than Égoïste, but brilliant. A fern-green eau de toilette. An energetic accord of fresh and aromatic notes.

Green, herbal, metallic, uplifting, soapy, with some bitterness to it. How my dad used to smell, and how I wish to be perceived.
