Frags so good you can't find an occasion to wear them?
by Sensual | Perfumes & Brands
Re: Respecting a perfume vs. actually wearing it
...Pipette:Somehow this article of Elena Vosnaki (PerfumeShrine) fits the format of this discussion. http://perfumeshrine.blogspot.com/2013/12/respecting-perfume-vs-actually-wearing.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+PerfumeShrine+(Perfume+Shrine) You can comment on her article - within the link - or here at Parfumo. That´s so funny, ´cos it was exactly "Coco" EdP that I sold while ago as I never wore it, but I do admire it, a lot ! Yet, it was not "me", and then again, I have no trouble wearing "Nahéma" when at home in pyjamas.I do not look for special occasions anymore to wear my favourites - of course, I would not wear some heavy orientals when going to a doctor either - because I rather think nowadays, that they deserve to be worn as often as possible, would be such a pity if they got bad ´cos I would "save" them for too long for that special occasion which might never come...

The end of a love affair-Scents that have lost their magic ?
by Sensual | Perfumes & Brands
...Sorceress:Can't say that anything has ever really lost its magic for me. Once liked or loved, I'll always feel that way. Whatever the perfume is, it just stays in the rotational seasonal area, so to speak. I just don't like certain perfumes for certain times of year and will "fall out of love" seasonally for them. That goes for me as well...Though, right now, my big-time-favourite from last winter, "White Aoud", does not excite me at all...too loud, but the base is quite nice. Yet again, the coldest time of the year is still to come, so in January it just might find a new place in my heart again. :)

How many discontinued perfumes do you own?
by Sensual | Perfumes & Brands
...9 of 30...although, Parfumo-database claims "Skai" and "Tea for two" to still be produced.Of "Dior Addict (2002)" I´ve bought a bit of back-up, and will buy some more if I find with acceptable price.Same goes for "Tea for Two", but right now it does notr seem so realistic...Anyway, after the reformulation of Addict I decided to test some more vanilla-perumes and came across "Felanilla No.21" which is my big time favourite right now, so it broght some good with it as well. :)Still, with "Nu", "Addict" and "Le Baiser du Dragon" I will automatically be more selective of when to use them, as I just might not get them anymore...But I do wear them too, the worst thing would be, if I´d never wear them anymore in fear of running out, and then one day would simply discover that my oh-so-precious-perfume has gone bad...One has to be able to let go, be it objects or persons. ( and a good perfume can feel very much like person, a good "friend" who´s been with you for many years, so I do understand the grieving of a beloved perfume )

How do you feel about the oud trend?
by Sensual | Perfumes & Brands
...I was blown away by the note, when I first sniffed on "Rose Aoud" by Micallef. Later, "White Aoud" by Montale was really nice as well. But as a trend ? No.It´s just that being a member in Parfumo for almost a year, I´ve discovered lot of scents that I really like, and Aoud is one of them. I will not avoid it, just because it´s a trend. ;) Just the same as I will continue testing ginger, figue and roses, which I nowadays like a lot - and, for a time being, there´s also been hype about ginger and figue, right ?And I suppose one is on the safer side with the western Aouds, when one tests those already established before the trend - like Mona di Orio, which is supposedly very good, but which I do not know yet.I suppose in 5 years one will also see, which of the new ones make it - trends pass away, but some perfumes stay longer time simply because they are good. So I´m looking for that, I have no hurry !

Movie moments that remind you of a perfume
by Sensual | Off Topic
..."Sécrétions Magnifiques" made me think of Cronenbergs "Crash", that ozonic, metallic, bit blood-like smell somehow just fits perfectly...And "Zoo" by Peter Greenaway also came to my mind, though "Zoo" is way more esthetic the way I find. And both "Habanita" and "Chanel no.19" suit really well to Film Noir and also especially to "Stalker" by Tarkowsky - being a big fan of spaghetti westerns as well, I should really once try "Ambre Sultan" in that case according to Dlane1953 - I bet I´ve seen The Good, The Bad and The Ugly 20 times by now already !

Perfumes for bedtime wear? L'Eau Neuve - Lubin
by Sensual | Perfumes & Brands
...Beftus:I have no guilty conscience, so no bed time fragrance for me. Well, with me, it depends on the mood etc. Roses are also helpful according to aromatherapy for falling asleep, and in summer I was wearing lot of them before sleeping. I found "Persian Rose" from Pacifica to be quite good, since it also has melissa, which also calms down. I did not have a quilty conscience however, but I was very stressed before my exhibition, so it was good to have something relaxing. ;)"L´Heure Bleue" is also great bed-time-perfume, but I rarely test any new ones before sleeping anymore, since I´ve had the experience too often to stay awake ´til morning if it was too bad - or good !

I can't wear Lutens ... why oh why oh why???? Rousse - Serge Lutens
by Sensual | Perfumes & Brands
...Apicius:They claim to be unisex, but actually, with lots of their issues they target a female audience who would like to go for men's fragrances.-------------------------------------------------------------------Also, I have the suspicion they very often aim to achieve that "Wow" effect. -------------------------------------------------------------I think, Chergui is quite good, but anything else I tested was quite chaotic.Hm, I´m not sure if that is true what you write about their target - or, more precisely, if that alone. I think it could as well be, that they are targeting for males who want to wear female-perfumes. ;)In any case, I was disappointes with "Cedre", expecting to get a cedar-bomb, but instead getting sweet spice-bomb instead, with the nice cedar drowning in spices and sugar. Therefor, I´ll rather find a good male-perfume with cedar instead.I agree on that "Wow !"-effect completely. So far, all of what I´ve tested, have that Wow-effect on the top-notes ( if one likes them ), but after half an hour, latest after an hour, the scents have tamed into rather sweet skin-scent. I like "Louve" sometimes, but it can easily be headache-inducing, and if it did NOT tame, it would be just too much after a while. I still way more prefer gourmands that have more contrast, f.e. "Atelier d´Artiste" of Nez á Nez, or well-made linear like "Gourmand Coquin" of Guerlain. Those are my favourites on the gourmand-side at the moment.Chergui I don´t know, but Clair de Musc is quite nice, as far as I remember. Does not jump into the face, and is quite mild and decent. I don´t remember any vanilla on that one - if there is, then very mild, since I also have trouble with some of vanillas.

Say hello and/or introduce yourself (if you like)
by Sensual | Parfumo Community
...First of all, I´ve actually never introduced myself in any forum whatsoever, since I never know where to start and what to say...Mostly I´ve just began to take part in topics etc, getting to know others and others to know me more slowly through what I post, but this time I´m making an exception.I´m finnish, living in Germany, which is why I´m spending most of my time on the german site, but now began to get more interested in this site too, perfumes have been my interest for about one year now. "Interested" is to put it mildly, I´m actually very passionate about it, even obsessed, as many in parfumo. ;)I´ve lived in 3 countries and numerous cities, plus almost one year in a forest - which I loved ! - so my motto is "home is where the heart is" and I have many homes in that sense.Nice to see this site growing, and my hearty welcome to all here, new and old. :)

Which scent would Dorian Gray love ?
by Sensual | Parfumo Community
...I think he could also wear "For Him" from Narciso Rodriquez in private, especially in his darker hours, and "Atelier d´Artiste" of Nez á Nez when he hits the town...
