Must, Booze and Moss

Laura Ashley's Dilys reminds me of the slivovitz my Polish-born grandmother used to make with beach plums, sugar and vodka: a homespun concoction with a decadent edge. Grandma's purple home brew tasted rich, packed a punch and drove a wicked hangover. (Fermented in a big jar, it required you to strain out the maggots before drinking.) Dilys, by the firm that smothered the 1980s in motherly chintz, starts out in the potpourri vein and then (probably thanks to the oakmoss) takes a darker, boozy turn: Yankee Candle meets Blue Velvet. If you're into chypres it's definitely worth a try.

Fantastically beautiful!

The Dilys Eau de Parfum is a very special fragrance hidden in my vintage miniature treasure chest. I had no expectations, but in the end I was all the more surprised and flabbergasted, as I had never heard of Laura Ashley before! This is a creamy floral dream and so lovely and feminine at the same time. The longevity on my skin is more than 12 hours with a great sillage.

The top note starts sweet, floral, creamy but also slightly fruity thanks to orange blossom and neroli. This creamy floral ride continues in the heart note. Tuberose, ylang-ylang and jasmine blossom can be detected here. Lily of the valley and narcissus add a somewhat greenish aroma to the fragrance. It also smells soapy and like fabric softener. In the base, iris and violet provide a fine powderiness, which is accompanied by some sandalwood. There is also a partial oriental fragrance component here, but I cannot define it more precisely.

Even if Dilys Eau de Parfum doesn't offer anything new or unfamiliar, the overall composition is simply perfect for me. I am absolutely thrilled!
