A very realistic lilac.
This perfume couldn’t be named any better! It smells exactly like a lilac bush. Projection is moderate and staying power could range from 4-6 hours depending on the wearer and how much of it has been sprayed. On my skin this is a pure floral. If I had to imagine a color for it, it would be purple peppered with dark green dots. Google “Watermelon Tourmaline” and look at the pictures. In my mind, this smells exactly how that beautiful stone looks!

Compared to a pastel floral such as Yves Rocher Pur Desir de Lilas, this is a bit deeper, spicier, and more complex. If you were to compare this to a more perfume-y lilac composition such as Fleurs d`Ombre Jasmin Lilas, I’d say this is a less musky and a more natural interpretation of it. I know that there are a lot of perfumistas amongst us who are mourning the discontinuation of Jasmin Lilas. I was lucky enough to snag a very expensive but small bottle of it a few years ago. I’ve been using it sparingly because I was afraid to run out of it. It’s virtually impossible to find it anywhere anymore. Folks, the good news is: This is a very decent replacement for it!! The composition opens with a very prominent lilac note. The first few minutes are nothing but fresh lilacs. Unlike Jasmin Lilas, there are no overripe fruits present. For me this is an improvement to the composition. The heart phase, much like the Jasmin Lilas, is dominated by a spicy jasmine note with lilac following as the secondary presence. I cannot detect any orange flower or angelica as the notes suggest. I think a touch of galbanum is what gives it that spicy edge and, when combined with a hint of green notes, imitates that smell of “bush” as you walk down the lilac path. The drydown is a light floral that is subtle, feminine, pleasant, and wearable in all seasons.

I’ve been reading through the reviews for Aerin Lauder perfumes in general. I cannot understand the disdain generated towards them. I already own 4 of their beauties so it’s safe to say that Aerin is quickly becoming one of my favorite perfumes houses. I think, for the price, they are well composed with quality ingredients. Aerin Rose de Grasse is one of my favorite roses of all times and I’d be surprised if people wouldn’t plunk down a bunch of money if these were bottled under the Guerlain or Tauer or even Tom Ford brands. Give the Aerin perfumes a fair chance. They’re an understated house that deserves more credit. :)

... as if nature itself wraps around you ...
One of my absolute favorite fragrances! It’s a lush, saturated garden in a bottle, where lilac unfolds so naturally and abundantly, just the way I always dreamed it would. I bought it blindly and never regretted it for a second. It’s perfect for cool weather, from the end of winter through the last chilly days of spring.

Lilac Path, like a garden path surrounded by lilac bushes. This scent has such richness, volume, and depth that I want to call it true high-end floral perfume with a natural feel, lilac, captured in parfum. It carries tenderness, richness, and harmony, as if nature itself wraps around you.

Everything aligned: the atmosphere, the season, the peak of blooming. You walk along that path through the lilacs and feel peace, joy, and lightness.

It’s powerful, yet airy and unobtrusive. Everything in it flows and lives like music. At times, it feels like more than lilac, it’s also a creamy, soft jasmine, thanks to a special lactonic kind. Together, they create that luxurious, voluminous accord, the duet I adore.

The scent is rich, sweet, and fresh, with a creamy nuance beautifully balanced by green bitterness, more beautifully than I’ve ever encountered. And then those magical notes of angelica and galbanum bring depth and a refined, spicy sharpness. Angelica adds rooty, herbal, sweet-bitter nuances, while galbanum brings freshness and woody, resinous touches.

The honeysuckle here is simply enchanting, warm, honeyed, tender, like golden sunlight turned into nectar.

And within this harmony, depth, and elegance lies the true magic of Lilac Path. It’s a fragrance that feels alive, vibrant, and joyful, yet also deeply soothing. It is the scent of serene joy.

Lilac overdose
This one opens on beautiful, near-realistic fresh lilac flowers.

Immediately after the opening,  other flowers become noticeable, most prominently jasmine, honeysuckle and orange flower.

To me, this was not an advantage.

Lilac on its own is already quite strong; beautiful, but at risk of becoming suffocating. In fact it is so strong it might make sense to balance it with green or water notes.  In Lilac Path, the sweet floral flankers reinforce the lilac beast, transforming it into something even more intoxicating (in a good or bad way, I leave that to you).

For me, after a short while the lilacs in Lilac path start feeling slightly rotten (as if they were plucked some days ago and then left in a vase) and suffocating. I'm convinced they still leave a wonderful sillage in passing, but being in that cloud for several hours was hard to bear.

Amazingly realistic
This lilac is very real. Lilacs are extremely evocative to me because they bloom so intensely for such a short period so this scent absolutely wrenches me into a state of "I'm excited for summer." It's fresh and green and very purely floral.

It is a very simple, photorealistic scent - it's like if someone made Jo Malone's "Red Roses" for lilacs - so if you prefer a lot of depth and complexity I think you will be disappointed here. But for me this scent is so beautiful and evocative and strong I fully intend to own a full bottle.

Lilac Heaven
It’s as if I’ve died and gone to lilac heaven. This is an extremely realistic lilac perfume, not bogged down by other notes.nnI bought the body cream so I can intensify the lilac experience. Together they are glorious.nnI generally do not like commercial perfumes, but Aerin Lauder is a true artist. I own several of her perfumes. Each one is a little jewel.

Very photorealistic lilac tinged with a bit galbanum and some spices in drydown, but basically a soliflore. Recommended for lilac lovers.

When my nose is close to my skin, it's too strong, i'm not the biggest fan, BUT it leaves that beautiful scent trail behind me that I like!

Linear/pure floral scent... but reminds me of warm Pepto Bismol for some reason. Not for me. (Disclaimer: my bottle is probably old.)

Here, the name says it all. Lilac with this strangely chemical-bitter note from the Hermès gardens, which I find difficult.

Lilac scent, pleasantly roughened by galbanum, making it less stuffy than expected. I really like it - wishlist!

A magnificent lilac bush in the garden. Very authentic. Jasmine and blossom in a supporting role. Slightly soapy, green + sweet. Airy + elegant.
