Hypær Æther 2018

A few years ago, when the hype around molecule fragrances rose, I definitely encountered the Hypaer.

The first thing that hit my nose was this typically light but synthetic wood note (ISO-E-Super). It must be Iso E Super, but then a fresh green note unfolded. It reminds me, as strange as it may sound, of an unripe and still green banana paired with fresh twigs when you snap them. It's not very easy to describe, but that comes pretty close. Not much more happens. It is very puristic and straightforward.

Unfortunately, the sillage is only noticeable in the first few minutes; after that, it becomes very close to the skin. The longevity is rather below average (5-6 hours), but it lasts significantly longer on clothing.

If you're looking for something interesting and different for the office, you should give this a try. It never bothers, but still captures the attention of colleagues.

Based on the listed notes, I took a chance on a 30 ml blind buy. The opening is very green-grassy with a woody touch. Unfortunately, the Cashmeran holds back a bit too much for my taste and doesn't hit as hard as in Molecule 05.

The notes that are most effectively perceived are Triplal (hence the grassy aspect), a very pleasant and sweet musk (no animalic notes), Kephalis (hence the woody aspect), and a small dash of Cashmeran. Although not specified, I am convinced that a large amount of Iso E Super was also used here, which is especially noticeable in the drydown. Of course, all the materials are synthetic, but almost all fragrances are these days anyway!

All in all, a very good scent for wood and forest lovers, if it weren't for the underground short longevity. Maximum 2 hours on the skin and it's over. So reapplication is necessary! However, at that price, it can get quite expensive!

My mom has a big box at home filled with Advent and Christmas decorations that gets pulled out of the basement every December. When you open it, it smells EXACTLY like this fragrance: 30-year-old, dusty fir branches.

Hypaer gets points for immediately triggering this vivid imagery in my mind. However, it loses points for its miserable longevity and sillage - within 3 hours, it completely fades away in a linear fashion. Sorry, that just doesn't work in this price range!

There are huge question marks overall for this unspectacular fragrance, which might make more sense as a Christmas room scent rather than a body fragrance. The only other scent I know from Aether is the pretty brilliant "Ultrae," and I wonder what the perfumers were thinking with this one....
