Kurt Wallander's House by the Beach
With Ambroxan and its ilk, I have the notorious "(olfactory) blind spot," so I didn't expect much from the sample. But, I'm curious...
So I sprayed it on...
At first, I get a faintly burnt smell of steam, like from a steam iron that’s still releasing steam. But only for a moment, then the steam transforms into a light sea breeze, which brings me to Kurt Wallander's house. Surely someone knows it from the crime novels.
It's evening, and Kurt is sitting on the terrace with a glass of wine after work, while his dog Jussi fetches sticks from the water. A gentle breeze blows over from the water, and someone on a distant island has probably lit a campfire.
It's the peaceful evening atmosphere that this scent reminds me of. Just letting go after a tiring day, relaxing, feeling at peace with oneself and the world, winding down comfortably, all without haste.
Even though the slightly sweet-woody warmth smells quite synthetic, the fragrance is still round and pleasant.
I usually only like "blockbusters," but I am pleasantly surprised by Ether Oxyde. Hand on heart, if I hadn't received the sample with a fragrance order, I definitely wouldn't have tested this scent...
