Dark Orchid Amouroud 2016

This is definitely a bold, dark and uncompromising fragrance. I might even say pungent. A weird start with a strong citrus burst that immediately dies down after the first sniff. I'm left with the strong bottom notes that immediately reach out. Resinous, woody, sweet and earthy. Frankincense, sandalwood, vanilla and patchouli are definitely recognisable. The mix is unusual (to my nose) and a bit disconcerting. I'm not a fan of strong resinous fragrances and that dark, pungent patchouli is somehow overwhelming to me. As it starts settling down, ylang ylang surprisingly starts to rise up and is a contender for the spotlight. It's a floral, creamy accord that binds itself well to the sweetness of the vanilla and sticks out like a sore thumb against the patchouli and woods.

If you love ylang ylang, resins, woods and patchouli with a dark side of things, then this might be a nice fragrance for you. Unfortunately, the strong, pungent aspect, the amped up ylang ylang and patchouli are too much for me. It doesn't fit my vibe and I don't even know when and where i'd want to wear it. Stil lglad I got a sniff of the dark side of things!
