Burning incense in the rain
What you smell at first blast is what you get. This is a pepper-forward, then green papyrus with an undercurrent of pear and watery violets. Overall, I think it’s a nice fragrance, but it doesn’t convey monsoons as the description states. It’s altogether more tame than that but not unpleasant. The whole effect is like cut stems in a vase of water. This lasts about 4 hours with weak projection.
Updating this about a year later, I’ve come to appreciate it more. The black pepper is still present but reads closer to incense and the green notes of pear and violet leaf read as more watery. I can see the inspiration of a monsoon but it’s as though watching it from inside a temple where incense is burning. For that reason, this layers well with Eau Duelle which is also a bit incense-y in addition to being a green vanilla. I wear these together and pretend to own Lilyphea.
