Very loud in the opening, but soon becomes quiet skin scent
First, a short disclaimer: I really, really love gourmand scents, have nothing against "sweet" fragrances and enjoy in a good peach scent.
That being said, I'm not so thrilled about this one. Sample of Birth of Venus comes to me as a very sweet fragrance, in the opening part. It's really fruity and sweet and you can definitely smell the ripe peach and citrusy notes.
After awhile more "soapy" part emerges, I guess it's lavender with jasmine and other florals. After a really loud and luscious start, it very quickly becomes subtle skin scent, at least on my skin.
I never experienced such a loss in forte with perfume before. It's like olfactory BOOM and half an hour later - so quiet and barely noticeable.
Don't know if anybody else had the same experience?
Bottle is really beautiful, notes sound really lovely and rich, but it simply does not work with my skin chemistry, I guess. For such a price tag, I would expect something more durable in longevity.
