Smells like someone you (used to) know
This fragrance is called Peau (French for 'skin') and it's a pretty good rendition of the musky, kinda sweaty, pheromonal smell of someone you consider yourself lucky to have woken up next to. If you remember the scent of the back of your lover's neck first thing in the morning, this is the artistic version of that.

Performance/sillage wise, I'd say it's on the more timid side of the scale. Then again, this isn't supposed to be a room clearer. It's called "Skin" and it's intended to sit close to yours. Definitely falls under the "your skin, but better" category.

unsalted, please?
This is a sample of the early 2020s trend of unnecessary salt. It's fake driftwood with fake seaweed/salt, like a lot of others of its time. Jo Malone's Wood Sage & Sea Salt succeeded in the salty genre by adding plum, but a minimalist approach to the salty-herbal category doesn't seem to work. Although I usually try scents twice, once is enough for this one.

One of my all time favorites
I have recently been doing some soul searching into what I like in perfumes, and I've come to realize that I do really like skin scents. This is absolutely one of my favorite fragrances of all time, its musky, a little aromatic and salty, and it has that beautiful labdanum that is quite possibly my favorite note in perfumery.

Also I'm a sucker for stories behind perfumes and the idea that this perfume is based on Hadrian's lover and the memory of his scent, just gets to me as a romantic. I think is perfectly represents resting you face in the crook of your partner's neck and relaxing into them.

That being said, obviously scent is subjective. I can see where this can be too salty, too musky, too herbal for people. It is not sweet at all and I would say as skin scents go, it is definitely more masculine leaning even if I believe it is truly unisex to me! It definitely sits closer to my skin, which I appreciate as thats what I tend to aim for in perfume, but I wear this for well over 8 hours and still gets whiffs of it on myself. This is my go to cozy scent year round. Arquiste is quickly becoming one of my top 3 niche/indie houses!

Statue of stone come to life, second skin scent with something extra
I was a bit apprehensive before trying this as coriander notes can be a huge hit or miss for me - coriander/cumin notes either turn sour and sweaty, or turn intriguingly sensual on me. Especially with a blind buy - which, in the end, I'm very happy I invested in. As soon as I sprayed it on, the composition unfolded and came together as time went, like a statue of dry, smooth and cold stone coming to life. Thinly draped in gossamer, which, when unveiled, exposes the smooth surface to the sun's gentle rays. The spices combined with the musk paint the picture of that cold stone slowly turning to sun-warmed skin in the light.

Sillage and projection is intimate, but that is fitting to me. The story this second-skin scent is telling is appealing to me, and it shows in the way it reminds me of its presence on me. Like the memory of a loving caress as I move. The favorite second skin/ambroxan/musky scent in my collection so far. What I think sets it out from the rest is the peppery heart with labdanum and prominent okoumé wood note in the drydown, which gives a depth that my other second skin scents don't have.

Sensual skin scent
Soft, sensual, caressing - those are words I can use to describe Peau by Arquiste.

This is one of the most beautiful, sensual fragrances I've smelled. It's not hot and horny hop in the bed and go at it sexy. Rather, it's a seductive mistress, Mrs. Robinson perhaps. With notes of whispering clary sage, salty ambergris and clouds of fluffy musk - dusted with spicy white pepper and slightly soapy coriander - this pulls anyone admiring closer to you. A caress, a gentle kiss on the nose of the neck or the earlobe, that's what this fragrance evokes. Ambermax and labdanum in the base bring the sensuality up a notch, adding a bit of warm animalism to this beauty. This is when the fragrance moves you beyond the gentle foreplay into sensual and passionate lovemaking.

To me, this is the delicate passion that the love of your life smells like. It's their skin, the effervescent passion, the dance of amorous ecstacy. To me, this is the softer equivalent to Rodrigo's Dark Rebel Rider for Varvatos - that, to me, as a gay man, epitomizes the passion of being with a buff, imposing, intoxicating leather man. I love both, fragrances, but I'll take the sexy guy in leather over the seductress IRL.

First impression is sharpening a pencil, but it's more oakmoss and ambroxyde. If it's skin, it's skin carved out of marble, colder stone

A largely ambroxan skin scent with a hint of spice. Pleasant, but I have several of this in my collection already.

My favorite skin scent. A pleasing musk mixed with soft aromatics and spices, which gives it a savory, peppery bite.

Absolutely disgusting musk scent. Went from peppery ambroxan to akin to gunk removed from teeth flossing. You couldn't pay me to wear this

I get dry saliva and synthetic musk. Maybe it’s just my skin chemistry but for someone that typically enjoys musky skin scents, this is not it.

Skin scent, powdery musk and sun-warmed salt. Clean, polished stone. I don’t get the clary sage too much, mostly just the musk.

An accident.
Metallic fogs
in my head.
There were woods.
What else was there?
The memory is missing...

A sense of security, like burying your nose in your partner's neck in the morning. Condensed happiness, "your skin but wholesome."
