Rivella on Crack... or: Who Invented It?
This sample had been lying around for ages; admittedly, rather neglected. I didn't expect much from it. A mediocre to nice men's fragrance that rarely fits my testing moods. However, I had visitors for a while and often perfumed myself with my best scents; yet I didn't want to leave the house today without fragrance. After all, I had several appointments and had freshened up anyway, where a scent was somewhat missing. An unobtrusive but nice fragrance was just what I needed.

How did I come up with my headline? Perhaps I felt a bit like I was on crack today. I rode my bike a lot, listened to fast and hard music, and had an energy I hadn't felt in ages. Yet the scent matched wonderfully; or rather, it didn't. Because it pushed that mood even further.

I perceive "Silberdistel" (a terrible name for a fragrance, in my opinion) as fresh, but neither distinctly aquatic, herbal, nor citrusy.

This cedar-vetiver combination with the fresh top notes evokes at most a tiny memory of Terre d'Hermes for me, thus probably also of Déclaration, which also relies on similar combinations.

However, the scent also shows soft and velvety sides, and is by no means scratchy. Surely it's not a very edgy fragrance, but I find the combination very pleasant. Fresh, but also soft. Youthful and casual, yet also elegant.

I like the scent and think it represents a really good consideration for anyone looking for a dynamic, everyday-friendly all-rounder that is always pleasant.

I sit here and wonder if I have ever smelled a silver thistle in my life?

If I did, then the scent must have been quite unremarkable, otherwise I would surely remember it.

As for the silver thistle from Bergduft, the scent felt very familiar to me immediately after application.

At first, I couldn't believe it until my husband asked me if I had bought another bottle of Déclaration by Cartier.

I think the hay is getting to me.., uh I mean the hay (Dear Marron, I’m cheekily borrowing a part of your title), silver thistle indeed comes close to being a scent twin of Déclaration.

Especially in the opening, the two are strikingly similar.
Silver thistle has, like Déclaration, that distinctive blend of crisp freshness, paired with a well-measured sensuality that runs throughout the entire scent journey.

The Swiss is, in contrast to the French, significantly softer and unfortunately doesn't last quite as long. Furthermore, the silver thistle develops a bit more towards the woody direction from the heart note, while Déclaration remains greener and, above all, sharper here.

Scent twin or not, the fragrance is well made, and if Déclaration was a bit too sharp for you, you should give silver thistle a try; it might just suit you.

As for me, I still prefer the original just a bit more and for this reason, I wouldn't buy silver thistle, but I would use it if someone gifted it to me.
Oh yes, I promised it: Hol-larie die-dudel-dö

Eberwurzel, Heustecher, Jägerbrot, Silbersonne, Nebelpflanze, Regenwurzel...
These are just a few of the many names that the silver thistle (lat. Carlina acaulis) has in popular lore. The increasingly rare plant, flower of the year 1997, is said to have various applications in medicine and magic, and it is also a reliable rain warning sign, as its bracts close in high humidity.
Native to the mountains, it captivates with its silvery glowing color and is content with lean chalk meadows.

Silver Thistle captures the majesty and unique beauty of the plant with its natural ingredients and skillfully translates it into fragrance.
Right from the start, it is clear where the journey is headed. A slightly citrusy, green-spicy, and noble soapy scent unfolds on the skin, developing from fresh-creamy to slightly floral, at times even peppery, leading to a woody vetiver base.
Here, there is no trickery at play, but a solid feel-good fragrance in the best sense of the word, which always looks good and has the potential to become a classic.

The longevity is around 6-7 hours, which is very good for a natural scent, and the sillage adapts to the theme and remains close to the body.

Who else is interested in testing and commenting? I have two packages, each containing this and the three fragrances from the Alpsegen series (Morgentau-Wiesengrund-Alpenglühen) to give away to interested perfume lovers.

Warm-spicy, the silver thistle

For me, it's simply a cheerful, carefree scent, yet very spicy and full of character. The neroli makes it!

Spicy (cardamom, pepper) and woody, with brighter and green notes (Davana). Smelled this often in men's fragrances, but it's quite good here.

Strong-spicy mountain meadows under a wide-open sky: that's the image this scent paints for my nose. Freedom is in the air.

Fresh, citrusy, even woody. Then comes a sweet herb - ooh!
Liqueur, schnapps, massage oil? Once that fades, the scent is pleasant again.

Alongside spicy notes like cardamom, an aromatic, sweet, herbal-spicy note leaves a lasting impression. Still unisex.
