Delicate Beauty
I ordered Bois d'Orient along with other samples from the company Perfums Bachs for testing, as I am very interested in how niche fragrances can be offered at such affordable prices.
The company now offers, in addition to perfumes, other cosmetic products like deodorants and candles. Whether they are considered "niche" I do not know, but what I do know is that their scents smell niche.
Right after spraying, I perceive a beautiful velvety note, slightly powdery and fruity sweet. You can immediately tell that the fragrance is of high quality, as the scent is soft and very pleasantly indulgent for the nose, creating that quiet moment where our mind stops chattering and our nose is occupied with the beauty of the scent... In that moment, I literally lack words, but this usually happens to me more with higher-priced fragrances and rarely with scents that have a liter price under 300 euros.
After that, the fruity sweetness becomes more intense, not cloyingly sweet or sugary, but rather a fruity, gentle sweetness. I perceive spices and a nice peppery note, but nothing stands out. A look at the pyramid reveals to me that there are no fruits in sight but likely cardamom, an ingredient that I almost always detect and do not particularly like. I cannot directly perceive the cardamom, but the scent reminds me of another fig fragrance heavy on cardamom, Gris Charnel Eau de Parfum.
Yes, there must be a fruit in there, possibly actually fig, which, together with the cardamom, reminds me of the sweetness of the more expensive counterpart.
After about 30 minutes to an hour, I start to perceive leather. It is a soft, warm leather, the kind of leather that smells masculine on a man and more feminine on a woman.
This fragrance is therefore absolutely wearable by both genders and for any age, as its price makes it accessible for young people.
The dry down is vanilla-leathery, soft and beautiful, unfortunately only very short, as after about 2 hours my nose can only perceive the scent very closely.
All in all, a beautifully high-quality fragrance that deserves more attention. I would actually be interested in how the scent would develop after a few months or even a year of aging; I can well imagine that it would become denser and more present with time and perform very well after one or more years of maturation. For this reason, and because this little gem truly deserves it, I will be getting a bottle.
This fragrance is not for people who want to be immediately noticed by their scent. It is a companion fragrance that gently surrounds you and leaves a small, pleasant scent cloud behind. The Bois d'Orient can also be worn very well on days when you only want to wear a certain scent for a few hours and then apply something else fragrant for the other part of the day. For example, I go shopping on Saturday mornings and wear it; by the evening it is gone, and I apply Angélique Noire or something similar for the salsa evening. I can perfectly imagine it this way :)
But what about you? Do you know the scent or can you even tell us if it performed stronger for you?
Thank you for reading my review, best regards
