Visit from Overseas
My grandma had a younger sister who lived in Canada. Once a year, she would visit our family and always brought various gifts with her. Back then, there were many things to buy in the USA and Canada that either weren't available in Germany or didn't hit the market until years later. She gifted me various toys, which I often liked better than those found in the stores here. You remember. I have always had a weakness for limited editions and hard-to-find items. And when I was about 13 or 14 years old, I received my first Secret deodorant stick from her.
The brand was only introduced in Germany years later, and the scent was similar but not the same. A first sniff of Fleurs d’Été brings back memories of dear Aunt T. and that time immediately. I loved the delicate powdery and softly sweet floral scent of this deodorant very much. I wasn't wearing perfume back then, and the deodorants that were trendy among other girls my age were too heavy and intense for me. I was enchanted by this lightness. Such a girlish, carefree scent. With just a tiny hint of sugary sweetness in the background. Not gourmand, but very subtle and finely sweetened, always remaining dry.
I know I’m not a big fan of powdery scents, but in this way, they can definitely work for me. Fleurs d’Été is a gentle, feminine girl powder scent. A little makeup is allowed, but please only nude. No foundation, no bold colors. Everything soft, delicate, and flavored with vanilla and benzoin, with a tiny hint of sweetness. It all rests on a dry powdery violet blanket. Jasmine adds a floral, fresh, spring-like touch, and a bit of ylang-ylang brings a fine creaminess into play. That’s exactly how my deodorant stick smelled back then, which I treasured like a treasure. Because Aunt T. only came to Germany once a year.
A powdery scent with a gentle aura that I would even wear. If Teint de Neige and its many sisters seem too overpowering and too heavily made up, one should definitely give this super soft violet from Bienaimé a try. Beautiful. Simply beautiful.
A heartfelt thank you to BuffyNicole for sharing and the testing opportunity.
