Shaving Water Journey Part 10 - KLARe Recommendation
The shaving water journey reaches round 10 - and I have chosen something special, after Yatagan's review I was very tempted to get this beautiful traditional oak shaving water.

KLAR - the view of this beautifully classically designed bottle and KLARly a manufacturer fragrance experience. When applied, it massages into the skin like a purring cat, so for those who do not like a burning sensation, it would be interesting - I personally have nothing against the burn, it’s part of the experience for me, but I try to provide a classification. You can definitely feel it.

Regarding the KLAR fragrance experience - herbal floral notes come through in a spicy citrus classic flavor. You encounter a mossy confidence and find yourself in an elegant mood, a completely beautiful experience primarily for your own nose and excellently suited for a more intimate environment.

Besides the fragrance enjoyment, you have a (predominantly, tendentially) masculine caring touch, soapy clean in a different way with gentleman vibes, although this fragrance experience should naturally be accessible to everyone (now and then I also enjoy feminine scents depending on my mood).

I find the price of the fragrance more than fair - for such quality I would actually be willing to pay more.

In the end, I would like to thank you for the positive feedback on TikTok, it brings me a lot of joy and routine will increasingly set in - I am always interested in content ideas or similar.

Thank you for reading!

Heidelberg's Rustic Romance*
Heidelberg is not only an attraction because of its old town, its fairy-tale castle, and as a center of Heidelberg Romanticism / German Romanticism (Achim von Arnim, Clemens Brentano) (for all people with a soul), but also because of some truly beautiful traditional shops in the baroque and classical kilometer-long pedestrian zone. This includes the headquarters of Klar Soap Manufacture, which is one of the oldest of its kind in Germany (founded in 1840) and can therefore compete with the oldest fragrance manufacturers worldwide, even though initially only soaps were made and perfumed there. Fragrances were added later. More details can be found on the really beautiful and informative homepage.

Such venerable traditions irresistibly attract me, and that’s why I gave the scents from Klar, which I had tested many years ago, a new chance on site. I actually like them all more or less, but since I was looking for a well-tolerated shaving water, I chose the Rasierwasser Klassik as a souvenir from Heidelberg, which is indeed wonderfully classic. It has a distinctly bergamot note in the opening, quite alcoholically sharp, as is fitting for a somewhat rustic shaving water (I avoid the term aftershave), but then quickly develops soft floral tones (white flowers and rose geranium in the English manner) and then fades into a woody base with subtle musk. The EdT is said to contain cassis, which I believe I also notice in the shaving water; moreover, the nutmeg indicated there is very plausible, as the scent is characterized by a fine, distinctive spiciness that does not resemble the currently popular pepper at all. By the way, the legendary "Russian Leather (Eau de Toilette) | Johann Maria Farina opposite Jülichs-Platz," introduced in 1967, is somewhat similarly structured and is also said to contain leather in the base note as another parallel. Although one should not expect a leather note à la Tuscan Leather in these traditional scents (thankfully), but rather a mélange of amber, labdanum, perhaps birch tar, here so delicate that one hardly perceives the components. Only an underlying hint is created, which gives the scent or shaving water a warm shimmer, reminiscent of tanned and then perfumed leather from earlier times.

For people with a soul and a sense for melancholic moments in life.

*Note: This comment was written for wet-shaving men who desire a well-tolerated but decidedly sharp (i.e., invigorating) shaving water - or for women / other men who would like to gift such a product to their men. Cheerful men can indeed be useful.

Recently at the Barber ...
... this image could project the scent of Klar Klassik onto the inner cinema screen. The film starts with an opening credit sequence reminiscent of a Heinz Rühmann film. Not from the 1920s, but from the time between 1950 and 1960. So then with a beautiful background that reminds one of a curtain or tablecloth fabric. A bit crinkled, and in front of it, these letters tumble in from all directions, listing all the participants. Accompanied best by a lightly swinging Paul Kuhn jazz number, just instrumental and without lyrics.
Then the opening credits slowly fade away, and one gets a view of a charming city (perhaps Heidelberg?) presented against the backdrop of the economic miracle, with cars, people in suits and hats. Everyone bustling towards some direction.
Then a cheerful title character is captured as he enters a shop with a briefcase and summer suit, casually knotted tie, and freshly styled hair held in place by hair gel. Once inside, it becomes clear that it is a men's barber shop. Mirrors on the wall, corresponding chairs in front that allow for a shave, wooden shelves and cabinets filled with men's grooming products. The inevitable newspaper holder - the clip rod - hangs on the coat rack, which is empty due to the summer. The customer is greeted by the owner in a smock that almost looks like a too-short doctor's coat.
Then it’s time for the shave. Lathered up, everything very creamy, shaved with a razor, and now Klar Klassik is applied. It starts with a citrus scent. It’s fresh and feels like lingering in front of an open window with fluttering, long white floor curtains moved by a gentle breeze. One looks out into the sun, and this fresh citrus scent wafts through the nose. But since there’s a draft, the breeze feels cool and fresh on the skin. Then, immediately, a spicy accord comes in, without driving away the freshness. No leather or wood, rather something that underscores the citrus scent. The scent accord feels like a spice blend that pushes the citrus scent forward and, after a while, also pushes it out of the scent profile. Then only freshness remains. Freshness, like a pile of washed laundry. Not a laundry scent, by no means, rather that clean impression one would associate with the term "clean" through a scent impression. All in all, this may sound very straightforward and nailed down in old German virtues. But it is not. It is timeless and draws on the simple, normal feelings of a person who grew up in a time when such scents were still presented by fathers. And the scent is not "old," but still feels very appropriate and contemporary when one simply wants to leave the bathroom well-groomed without leaving the environment puzzled. The beauty of the scent is that it is not an everyday scent that comes from everywhere. In a modern perfumery, certainly not.
It just feels nice. It doesn’t last forever on me, but I don’t even know how long it is perceptible. But I have the feeling that even if the scent has possibly long gone, I still believe it is there. Apparently, the brain has been tricked there ... but I somehow don’t care.

Classic German aftershave; no modern frills. For "guys": bergamot, geranium, nutmeg, wood.

Name is a sign: Super classic, crystal clear, brighter than bright. Aquatic, not soapy. Very young! Possibly old school, but not old-fashioned at all!

A special kind of aftershave. Natural ingredients with purpose. For example: witch hazel that stops bleeding instantly. Skin becomes silky soft.
