It is definitely unisex. And it doesn't make you think of a dive bar, but rather of an upscale establishment where you might pass through the smoking area.
Iris isn't usually my cup of tea, but it's skilfully drowned out here. I find Eau de Californie more difficult, but it doesn't really let me go either. The two could even be a good combination, I'll have to try it out.
In any case, I won't be giving the sample away and I've sniffed it a few times now, simply because I like how the overall concept smells. I don't know whether I'll go out in public with it. But at home for the couch in any case.
