WHO IS HIDING THERE?

I've been on the lookout for affordable fragrances and fragrances that have been forgotten or were never even known in the first place and are therefore languishing on the lower shelves. I have already described this several times. One of these fragrances is "Bazaar" by Christian Lacroix. How did I come across it? Actually via another fragrance. It was "C'est la Vie", also by Christian Lacroix. I don't know what it smells like, but I've always liked the bottle, designed by Elizabeth Garouste and Mattia Bonetti, two heroes of the 1990s. That's why I wanted to buy "C'est la vie" last year. Unfortunately, it's no longer available and old copies are only available online at top prices. After many clicks, I ended up at "Bazaar", which I didn't know. I briefly read the description and looked to see who was involved. Great names, known for great creations. "Bazaar" seemed ideal to me. Anything that smells fresh and fruity belongs in my collection. Especially when summer is approaching and I'm longing for fruit and the south. For me, fruit stands for the south, a terrace (in a great hotel that I could never afford) and a view of the sea. Baskets of fruit everywhere. That's how I imagine it. A fragrance conveys this reality for me, at least for a moment. "Bazaar" promised all this and with a few more clicks it was bought for a reasonable price (and was many times cheaper than the desired hotel room). A few days later, the nice letter carrier rang and brought my order. I unpacked the box and held a really awful, tacky box in my hand. I was very disappointed. Both the packaging and the bottle were a disgrace in my eyes. For me, the bottle is important. It has to be well made and heavy. Beautiful, heavy glass. "Bazaar" comes across as very cheap. Cheap stamped silver sheet metal (probably plastic) and even cheaper orange-colored plastic. The worst of the last years of the old millennium and the first two years of the new millennium. This "bazaar" was visually more like a funfair. On the way to the garbage can, I didn't want to give up hope completely and sprayed vigorously. Forearms, neck and ... it was there, the south, the terrace, the fruit. Wonderful, a beautiful fragrance that takes you away. A fragrance like a journey to a warm place of longing. To a film set for a long-forgotten movie, such as "Death on the Nile". The thought of this atmospheric movie is not far off. If you sniff carefully, you actually come very close to the Nile. I smelled my old friend "Un Jardin sur le Nil" by Hermes. It shimmers through very lightly and quietly and envelops you in this soft, wonderful fragrance. Now I had become the good Hercule Poirot and had to find out how I had found this familiar fragrance in "Bazaar" that I had grown to love. I didn't have to stick my sniffer nose into solving this case for long. As with any sensible investigation, as we all know, you look at the suspects first. "Many cooks spoil the broth" is the saying. In this case, there were exactly three cooks and the broth was not spoiled. We went through the list of their designs and quickly found what we were looking for. 2002 "Bazaar", 2005 "Un Jardin sur le Nil". Three years in between. One designer, two fragrances and without even realizing it, you can smell an exclusive hint of Hermes in Christian Lacroix's "Bazaar". The fruity fruit basket comes as a gift on top. What more could you want, and with all the beautiful sensual surprises, who is still thinking about the poor, unfortunate bottle?
