A nice vintage
I picked up this huge bottle for a very good price, something in the neighborhood of $20! This 8oz bottle is very musky with fleeting reminders of a very different and much better time long gone. In a way it's kind of depressing every time I wear these gorgeous well made Vintage fragrances because I know these times will never ever come back. I simply refuse to live in the present and I have daily reminders of why that is so. Anywho this musky earthy classic sits very close to the skin but the scent is there at least for half of the day or night. Musk by Coty has been around for a very long time with it's blast of masculinity. In fact, there's a sticker on the side of the bottle that has the date 1985 on it!! It's a versatile fragrance with earthy woody powdery and musky tones that completely envelope the wearer. Perfect to splash on liberally right out of the shower as it sits very high on my column dresser next to the likes of Tom Ford and Creed! Every time I catch a glimpse of the bottle I smile and it makes me feel good knowing it's in my fragrance reportoire. I won't waste my time buying the newer formulation because it's not the same as this classic from 1974. Good stuff indeed. :)

Mini Review for Musk for Men
I am writing a mini review for this scent because that should cover it pretty well. This scent is a pleasant skin scent. The notes above sum it up pretty well, some soft musk, a fleeting lemony top note, some wood, and a nice, pleasant amber. It sits close to the skin like most older musks, and has lasting power around 6-8 hours on my skin.

It can be had for obscenely cheap prices, but once it dries down, doesn't smell cheap. It's not complex by any stretch of the imagination but the juice is actually decent stuff. It's perfect for spritzing on after a shower at night before curling up in some flannel pajamas with a good book.

Animalistic Desire
The advertisement film for the perfume (link see above) evokes expectations and memories of archaic human instincts. "Musk for Men" sets the bar high: an erotic scent for guys. Pheromones swirl around it, making the ladies tremble a thousand times. So goes the advertising.
Here is the reality: The opening is somewhat soapy. Please do not expect the old soap that sat in drawers forever to "scent" laundry. Here, the soap is new and creamy. Also, do not be disappointed if the animalistic side does not immediately reveal itself in the form of a large animal enclosure with herds of wild animals. This is a cologne. It remains friendly. No, there is rather nothing animalistic here. The scent undergoes almost no development. Just as it appears after a few minutes, it stays that way until the end. The freshness from the start lasts quite a while. For a time, one might find woody hints. However, these quickly transform into a floral direction. Musk rounds off the scent but does not come across as heavy or sweet. All of this remains quite superficial; the scent does not gain depth or radiance over time. It is just right for days when you do not want to walk around with a statement. Due to the subtle floral notes, I perceive the scent as rather unisex. Even though the scent is called "Musk for Man" and comes from a time that filled brown bottles with a louder fragrance language (Balafre brun), the powdery lily/jasmine in the background hints in another direction.
The sillage is not very abundant. And unfortunately, the bottle also looks quite cheap. Overall, not a scent that one must have or test. Unfortunately: animalistic desire is neither awakened nor satisfied. However, there is a MUST! Folks, watch the video for the perfume. It’s great cinema!

Floral, powdery, creamy. Unfortunately, it can't compare to the greats from the 1970s. But it's quite nice.
