If I had to dissolve my collection today....
and could only keep one fragrance, it would be this one.
What am I writing? I think this stuff is making me high.... I’ll stop sniffing and keep writing....
I stumbled upon it yesterday at Müller in the discount section. I immediately mocked it in my mind: Now there's also something called swallow pee to spray on?
Actually, I was looking for the Jaguar for man, the nose-scratching brush from 1988, which I wanted to buy out of protest because I haven’t found a fragrance I can perceive and like for many years. Most are too artificial or just watery for me. Even most classics are heavily toned down today. Sniff.
So, where is the old Jaguar hiding? It should be somewhere here, in the vertical bargain bin for drugstore scents and old trinkets without a good distribution company.
Back and forth again, and there it is, Ronaldo!
Ah, screw it, now I want to know what the crybaby has produced. At least I can make fun of it!
I sprayed, recoiled, and was amazed!
What a substance! Really? That came out of there? Unbelievable. That was no swallow, it was real and actually quite good!
The price tag is yellow, so it's a special offer. Took a closer look:
9.95 for 30ml EDP! Didn’t think twice, I’ll take two. Or all?
I then went to the checkout with a smile and two Ronaldos in a headlock (I had other stuff in my hands too! ;-). Hold on, I need to pay for these two elevated treasures!
With the first spray, I get Neroli and traces of basil, which caresses the Neroli as if it were a single scent. Citrus is also present for a while (who's surprised?).
But then immediately the Clearwood-tonka-vanilla flash, surrounded by fine pipe tobacco. Just a hint! Cocoa might have been stirred in as well. There’s something slightly irritatingly erotic about it too.
Some kind of Ronaldo pheromone? No idea what it is, maybe the combination.
Why do I always think of a flanker of Davidoff's Relax whenever I take a deep, close breath of this fragrance?
The whole thing remains the same for hours: dark, but not heavy, delicious and calming. Quite vanilla-like, tonka bean-like, without being overly sweet.
But it will probably soon be prescription-only, and knowing EU legislation, classified as potentially addictive. ;-)
The main fragrance ingredient, which is absolutely dominant, is the Clearwood.
According to the manufacturer, it is an extract from patchouli, from which the earthy and musty notes have been removed. What remains is a light oil that smells of maple syrup and dark wood. (It does not smell like pure patchouli at all.)
The longevity on my skin is enormous, easily 8-10 hours. Sprayed in the evening, I can still smell it in the morning.
Since it doesn’t contain BHT, I also spray it on my skin without worry.
The sillage is quite good.
If someone can appreciate vanilla, tonka bean, and neroli (orange blossom) in men's fragrances, they will probably like this scent.
I can only agree, forget who the fragrance is from!
Be bold!
Go to the store, if no one you know can see you bending down.
Or pretend something, Ronaldo used to do that all the time! Calf cramp in front of the shelf, pacifier dropped, gold bars slipped out of your pocket, whatever!
That gives me a thought. Many fragrances outside the mainstream that were on special offer were often discontinued afterward. I’ve lost quite a few treasures that way.
How long are they open today? There were still seven pieces on the shelf! Please excuse me....
