April 3rd Daniel Josier 2022

An opulent bouquet for a passionate, proud woman - that is the association that comes to mind first with April 3rd.
I must admit, however, that I did not expect much after testing the rather overly sweet Ambre Tabac and the more inventive, yet equally sweet Black-Widow-Patchouli.

But with April 3rd, Daniel Josier has created a little masterpiece in my opinion, as he manages a complicated balancing act between classic, opulent women's fragrances with a fitting hint of animalic notes and a more modern scent with fresh accents and a soft sweetness.
The individual floral notes are hardly distinguishable to me, but together they form a lush bouquet that shines in the most vibrant colors. A light lime freshness glistens from the leaves like morning dew, giving the fragrance a youthful sprightliness that forms a wonderful contrast to the slightly animalic, spicy base notes. I feel transported to a garden where everything is sprouting, greening, and blooming wildly, full of life and energy. Dense and lush, yet still fresh, juicy, rejuvenating. Dignified.

Daniel Josier is said to have designed April 3rd for his mother. I would love to know what kind of person she must be to inspire him to create such a powerful scent. She must be a beautiful soul. Almost when wearing it, I feel like I cannot do it justice.

P.S.: In its opulence, April 3rd does remind me of some works by Roja Dove, and the quality seems surprisingly high - especially considering that, unlike all of Roja's, it is available for just €125.
