A perfume by Des Filles à la Vanille for women, released in 2006. The scent is floral-powdery. Projection and longevity are above-average. It is still in production.

Pearl Wedding
The wonderful story of my husband and me, how we met and that we got married just three months later, celebrated its 30th anniversary on August 27, 2016. When I think about the fact that I never really wanted to get married, these 30 years have been the happiness of my life and a special, very loving story that continues.

Contrary to the usual pearls, I received a very special fragrance for our 30th wedding anniversary - Rose Extrême. As I mentioned in my blog, not at the usual price of 475 euros; my husband paid less than a third of that price at a well-known online perfumery! This rose was therefore significantly below any La Collection Privée!

The packaging and the bottle are truly high-quality and a feast for the eyes. Lots of bling bling on the bottle (I admit, I like that) and a double box. The presentation suits this rose, as Rose Extrême is a truly special, luxurious fragrance. Its resemblance to Guerlain's Nahema is unmistakable, but it's only a resemblance; these two mature roses are not fragrance twins.

The opening is quite opulent and, for my taste, a tad too sweet. This could have been handled differently, but fortunately, it only lasts about 20 minutes before this sweetness gradually diminishes. From the very beginning, however, musk plays a significant role. I must be careful not to get too close to my wrist due to my aversion to too much musk.

The main notes are, however, rose and peach. Not those round, large, yellow peaches that we can buy in supermarkets during summer, but those flat, wild peaches that exude an incredibly fruity-fresh scent. I prefer them to any round peach, as their taste is unbeatable.

It's like with those large-flowered, mostly vibrant yellow to orange roses that emit such a fragrance. Strongly rosy-fruity, like many of the wonderful tea roses can, for example.

The sillage is strong but not overwhelming, the projection noticeable, elegant, extremely feminine, and present. Therefore, I would only wear Rose Extrême for going out and in the evening, similar to La Rose de Rosine Extrême. I simply find it unsuitable for daytime wear, although after a long night with Rose Extrême, one would surely still exude a subtle, elegant, and very feminine rose scent the next day, underlined by warm, delicate vanilla.

The longevity is truly unbeatable. I can't detect any soapiness; the fragrance retains a delicate sweetness until the end, which is likely due to the musk, and after several hours, it becomes warm and soft with vanilla.

This rose is a truly luxurious and fitting gift for all female fragrance enthusiasts (just a tip for the male partners of female fragrance enthusiasts *g*).

I generally like Micallef fragrances, most of the time. At least some have something that makes me almost addicted. Then the urge quickly arises to just test them all. I have to.... I mean, compulsively.

However, this horrendously expensive concoction is off-limits, right? Curiosity literally gets one in the nose. It was clear again.
So I: Have to try it. Rose!
Aside from the fact that I have over 100 different scented roses in my garden, I'm just a tiny bit crazy about roses. I have roses in my last name, curtains, some t-shirts... guest soap. Porcelain. Etc. ad nauseam.
It just happened that way. Honestly!

So I unpack the Holy Grail (sample!) with due reverence.
And folks, I know rose scent, the original. May-June, every morning, still "in my shirt" (there are no neighbors here who could take offense), I walk with my dog through the dew-soaked garden, sniffing the freshly bloomed roses, the ripening ones, the wilting ones. And I do this multiple times throughout the day. And especially in the evening. Each variety smells different - from apple to cream to rose (red, dark), velvet, juice, and jewelry.
So - I _know_ rose scent.
And this here is one, I admit. One of many. Just. Unfortunately.
Beautiful, real, creamy, rosy, peachy. Everything that is promised is delivered. But that's it.
A rich rose scent, not too much, not too little.

If someone really wants to smell completely like a rose bush, that can be achieved, for example, with "Rose Absolue" by Goutal for a fraction of the price. Although I prefer the Goutal scent even more, as it somehow feels fuller, rounder, more opulent. Just: red, dark velvet roses.

The sillage depends on usage - an Arab princess would surely douse her head and veil, knees and soles with it - a Western European woman is usually a bit more discreet.
Yes, you can smell it, but it's just rose-like. Nothing stimulating or exciting.

Longevity is moderate, staying close to the skin; after 3-4 hours, a soapy scent reminiscent of good hotel soap remains. This bothers me enormously. This soapy finish awakens an urgent need in me to thoroughly clean the areas where summer blossoms just shimmered.

All in all: much overpriced. The bottle is a showstopper, like many others designed by Micallef for the oriental market. Lots of bling, gold, crystal. (check it out: http://www.mmicallef.com/#page-35 )

There is more to be done, Madame Micallef - what "Mon Parfum" shows most impressively for me.
I am relieved that I do not feel the urge to compulsively acquire this little rosebud.

For the money, I can already get a decent rose arch and 2 historical climbing roses (Guinee!!) .... that has its charm too.

Oh dear, this fragrance, so expensive, grand, expensive, noble, and of course expensive, that my fingers freeze in awe above the keyboard. Well, better to stay free for the sake of a fair comment, so here are a few loosening exercises to dispel the awe: vulgar, cheap, arbitrary, crap, urine, sludge. There.

475 euros for 50 ml of Rose Extrême, a refill from ALzD costs 29 euros. And I have one. Swapped. For what, I no longer remember, but I definitely got it cheaper. Whether it’s better is the question, but it’s clear: for us perfume fetishists, it’s always a special experience to get a whiff of a fragrance in this price range, after all, we - compared to non-perfume noses - spend a multiple of money because quality does indeed have its price. And it’s also clear: the more expensive the fragrance, the more critically one sniffs to see if the expected increase in quality is really delivered.

Since my perfume fetishism excludes rose scents, I have healthy self-confidence in judging this noble water somewhat neutrally. But you can already tell: I’m making quite a fuss in the introduction, somehow I am still in awe. Sludge.

But now let’s get started:
Peach and rose are the main themes of Rose Extrême. This is always a combination that calls for “femininity,” and so it is here. The other ingredients are the cushion on which this theme is draped and displayed. If it’s rose, then I actually prefer the Bulgarian one; it has a slight hint of cassis that I like. The scent progression is very fluid and unexcited, no pyramid staccato. Peach and rose always get exactly what they need. At the beginning, the brand “Micallef” is still more pronounced, later the main theme wafts in a slightly powdery, elegant, timeless, and ageless aura. Only after about 2 hours does the fragrance fully unfold, and the warm vanilla base reconciles the slightly aggressive floral-fruity theme for my taste. Sweet, but not sticky, elegant, but not too ladylike; only if you hold your nose to your hand too often and for too long does it start to scratch the palate. That’s why I’ll stop now.
Longevity and sillage certainly deserve a full 100%, just like the fragrance deserves the addition “Extrême.” Economical use is advisable not only in light of the high price.

But is this - quite beautiful - fragrance worth so much money?
No. You pay here for the packaging and for the bottle as well. Wooden box with white piano lacquer, the bottle hand-set with Swarovski stones. This is not meant to lead a purely utilitarian existence in the bathroom cabinet or handbag; this is perfume for aesthetes. For art lovers. It may be that one or another show-off and wannabe snob finds it appealing, but they first have to be able to afford it.
I agree with Zora: For the spoiled noble lady who never had to lift anything heavier than a golden spoon. The image fits. To the bottle and to the fragrance.
A sunlit villa, where a large antique grand piano stands and a white Persian cat, which is sedated with Bach flowers in its food, so that it stays decoratively on the gold-threaded tapestry cushion designated for it. That would be “Rose Extrême” in its natural environment.

In my opinion, however, it seems much more charming on the Spanish maid who, when no one is watching, treats herself to a spritz. These two, the fragrance and the maid, would ennoble each other much more in their contrast. Too much nobility and aristocracy indeed seems kitschy, and there is really kitsch available for less money.

From Another Time
I've started this comment ten times and deleted it every single time.

Nothing, absolutely nothing, can do justice to this rose scent. I have and I know several rose fragrances, but none have enchanted my senses like this one.

Barely perceiving the scent, it felt as if I were experiencing some kind of regression. This fragrance was so familiar to me. I felt that I knew it, knew it well, must know it, but all the stages of my life led to no conclusion. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't associate this scent with any memory.

Have I perhaps lived before? Crazy. But it feels as if it reminds me of long-gone times, before my time.

My eyelids grow heavy and images appear before my mind's eye. I lie in a large cast-iron bathtub. The water is pleasantly warm and adorned with countless rose petals. The bathtub stands freely in the room, surrounded by candles that cast a flickering and warm light, bathing my alabaster skin in a silky glow. Through the half-open door, I can see my bedroom. A large four-poster bed stands there, and next to it, an antique dressing table with hairbrushes and a luxurious large powder puff, the delicate powder of which I can still smell on my face. A gentle breeze wafts through the wide-open window of the bedroom, revealing a view of the large rose garden, whose blossoms now float in my water. I feel comfortable, I feel good, and I sense unknown longings within me. A pampered young woman who never had to lift anything heavier than a spoon. Who can devote herself carefree to the beautiful sides of life and is happy to have drawn the better cards at birth.

It's been a while now, the scent has faded, and I have returned to my reality. But I smile, for I still feel the warmth of the water and the scent of the rose petals.

My little fragrance sample will soon be empty, and I realize that the unknown longing has suddenly found a name. For now, it will remain a longing, and the price will have to stay as well. You can't have everything, after all. But it would still be nice :-D.
