Morning has broken, like the first morning...
...roses get open, to welcome the sun; birds are there singing and I'm slow walking, to smell all the scents that roses can bring......
I believe I can say that I love rose fragrances and know quite a few of them. I found YSL Paris quite nice 25 years ago, but something bothered me about it, and I couldn't really warm up to it. Only now have I made peace with YSL Paris Printemps.
Nevertheless: Time and again, I was on the hunt. On the hunt for THE ULTIMATE rose fragrance.
Good news: I have at least found one of them! One of the most beautiful, sweetest, softest, roundest, most charming, multi-layered, and elegant of all rose fragrances: Rose Jardin Delice by L'Occitane aux Provence!
The fresh lychee with just a hint of cassis and raspberry greets me upon spraying, but it quickly makes way for the rose, the roses, the rose bouquet, which then envelops me and accompanies me for a long, very long time. These are not those synthetic, cold roses; it is a bouquet of freshly bloomed English, Damask, Bulgarian, and Persian roses in all colors. There is yellow, but also orange and pink, light red and dark red roses, and even the very dark violet ones that smell wonderfully warm.
These roses are continually lifted by the fruity notes, giving the fragrance an everlasting freshness without taking away from the roses' scent.
Later comes the warm addition, first sandalwood and then musk, but very, very finely dosed, so as not to take away the rose's presence.
Rose Jardin Delice has ended my rose journey. I have found MY ultimate rose fragrance and I sincerely hope that L'Occitane does not quickly discontinue this beautiful floral composition. I will definitely be getting 2 - 3 more bottles, so to speak, for stock.
