The Three Perils of Perfume
A bad perfume can be caused by three different faults.
The first - and most common these days - is bad materials, perfumes that are made of plastic iris, plastic fruits, plastic vanilla and plastic patchouli.
The second fault is bad blending, where a perfume is lumpy - like a bad packet soup.
The third is bad taste, and that’s the problem here.

Michelle is good at first sniff, it made me go ‘oh, that’s good’. But it’s just too sweet; madly, badly sweet. A blancmange of white flowers, aldehydes, creamy vanilla and not much else, it’s bad because it’s Too good; ‘c’est trop bon’ as the kids say round here.

To be fair, this is a sample of pure parfum, not the best concentration for this sort of thing, but then, would any concentration be good - apart from homeopathic?

Michelle, my beautiful
When I saw a photo of the bottle here on Parfumo, I had a bit of a flashback. The colors of the bottle resemble those of my then-favorite, the very old Magie Noire. This is not surprising at all, as Magie Noire was released in 1978, a year before Michelle. And somewhere in the back of my mind, something suddenly clicked, and I knew that Michelle was telling me something. However, I couldn't remember the scent at all and didn't even know if I had ever smelled it. So I was very eager to get a whiff of it.

Then I discovered a mini at a flea market and immediately snapped it up. The contents are still completely intact from top to base, and I can report: First: This is a knockout scent from the late seventies, and second: Yes, I recognize it again! First, the aldehydes make their way out. But it doesn't take long, and then the truly numerous flowers come into play, so tightly interwoven that I can't possibly untangle them. In the process, it becomes a bit soapy (not really my style). The indicated coconut must have already fallen off, as I certainly don't notice it. The scent is subtly enveloped by a delicate green note, which, however, is never dominant. Therefore, I would not classify Michelle as "green" at all.

Michelle is an elegant, beautiful lady with character, facets, and contradictions: She is an adult, self-assured woman who doesn't need (sweet) games. She exudes a slightly cool aura, yet is very warm-hearted at the same time. When she enters a room, you notice her, yet she is by no means intrusive. The years have not harmed her; she is still a beautiful woman who fits wonderfully into today's time.

Conclusion: Michelle has made the leap into today's time. She has no old-school touch and is still very wearable today. However, she is not among my personal favorite scents, as she is too elegant and too floral for me. But I am absolutely thrilled to have this little treasure in my collection, and I will cherish it!

The Crowning!
There are fragrances, whether niche, mainstream, drugstore, or from the large and renowned perfume houses, that are simply the pinnacle. NOT meant positively. So not the peak of enjoyment, but the peak of excess or the self-representation obsession of the perfumers or whoever crafted it.
Michelle is a crowning achievement. And the house of Balenciaga has nearly taken me by storm in recent months. After all, I already own Le Dix and Quadrille, but Rumba is also on my wish list, and now Michelle too. Ah, I need a goat to cover my expenses!
* a green chypre from the very beginning
* clean, soapy opening quickly gives way to gardenia, velvety peach, and a light, fleeting sweetness
* a green, silky veil hovers over everything, lifting occasionally to invite in some blossoms
* I would be lying if I recognized a single one! A dense, floral array, unsweetened, like after a rain shower. The droplets still sparkle on the leaves.
* grass-green dragonflies appear and vanish. Not knowing that their lives last only one summer.
* the evening descends. It is August. The days are getting shorter, the evenings already cooler. The trees in the dragonfly forest and by the pond exude green, moist woodiness.
* at night, dark green velvet
* in the morning, green, dense silk
A green, distinct, beautiful chypre dream. Not overwhelming, but already clearly present in gesture and expression. 100% for this little gem and wish list...

Avocado-Yellow-Green-Fine
This is a vintage mini that the lovely Ola has graciously sent me, amongst other goodies. Thank you my dear

It took a little while for it to unfold. But then it had a sea of floral scents ready, shining exuberantly and containing a wide range. I couldn't say what all is mixed in, it's fantastic. The aldehydes are only moderately detectable here, which suits me very well.

Over the course of the fragrance's duration, it behaves decently, no longer quite as radiant, but still beautifully floral, paired with a bit of green that is not a deep green but rather avocado yellow-green.
The scent bids farewell with a vanilla-woody timbre, combined with a bit of oak moss, which I am known to appreciate very much.

The longevity isn't exceptionally long, which is certainly due to its age. It's a pity, as I unfortunately have only a little of it. It is remarkable that it has held up so well. Usually, minis go off quickly due to the small amount.

And what I still smell, and indeed really just at the very end, is actually coconut. Perhaps I'm just imagining it because I've read it. But it does have a slightly exotic quality.

A little treasure of a fragrance that brings good mood and joy. It has brightened the day with its radiance.

A Perfect Memory
For some time now, I have wanted to write a comment about this fragrance, as it is one of the special perfumes in my life.
I first encountered it on my 10th birthday when a friend gave me a sample ... wow, what a joy that was! The perfume is permanently etched in my memory. It smelled so beautiful, elegant, clean, floral, sweet. For a long time, this perfume was the one against which I measured all other perfumes in my life, and there were really many of them :)
Only later, as I got to know the notes of the perfume and how it develops, did I consciously recognize the notes of this fragrance - coconut, gardenia, ylang-ylang, tuberose, orchid, vanilla, musk ... so many notes but it is so beautifully composed. To this day, these exact notes have remained my favorites in perfumes ... incredible!
Since it has been discontinued for a long time, I have searched for it in perfumeries, eBay, various online shops, and fragrance sites... I even found and bought a few pieces, but unfortunately, it is no longer what it used to be... some perfumes unfortunately do not hold up well when they sit for too long. At the moment, I have it on my wrist and it lacks that freshness upon opening, although the drydown is still lovely.
But it remains perfect in my memory...
If you happen to know of a perfume that is similar to Michelle, I would be very grateful if you could leave a comment :)

Great opera. Diva-like intoxication, the 80s are knocking. In ten years, I’ll wear it with grandeur; until then, I’ll sniff it lovingly.

Great chypre scent! Even though I only perceive the coconut subtly, it still complements the mossy-woody theme well.
