Lavex Kölnisch Wasser Dressin 1970

After it was a must for every female in the 50s and 60s to carry a bottle of 4711 in her handbag, the Köllsche Wässerchen was supplemented in the early 70s with the Lavex cloths. The older ladies were delighted and the kids less so. Their mothers had a thing in between. For hot summer days, which we now have on the assembly line and which we now only call warm, the Lavex towels promised pure refreshment. They made coffee or butter trips to neighbouring countries and they dreamed of going around the world with the rising, by the way privately very likeable, pop star from Prague.

If the lady of the world needed refreshment, such a bag was opened. Inside was a firm paper towel soaked with a strange mixture of all the cologne. The beginning was medically citric. Later some lavender and rosemary. Then again it went on citric and alhoholic. The cloth was used to clean hands, mouths, forehead and table tops. If everything was clean, the smell had already disappeared. Also against headache and travel sickness Lavex was used (only I got sick from the smell and not from the sausage).

After all these years it is difficult for me to describe the scent with which the cloths were soaked. Unique chemical and medicinal and I would recognize it immediately
