Ripe spring
Met a long-time friend in a drugstore the other day. We used to be colleagues, then we became long-distance neighbors. I was part of the children's clique with her husband. She's been a widow for three years because her husband is the face of one of the corona deaths in our city. Didn't take it all that seriously. But that's another story.
After I got over my coronavirus illness in the fall, my sense of smell has changed and I am now enthusiastically sniffing my way through the world of fragrances. My friend, who is even younger than me, looked at what I thought were old women's fragrances and picked up Tosca. A fragrance that was not and will not be my friend. She instructed me that it was a fragrance for our age group and that it would be appropriate to wear it.
The lady did not understand that I am not bothered by age and my surroundings, but choose fragrances according to my nose. To provoke her, I reached for the poisonous green bottle of the rock band with the hard sounds. Expecting a lady cracker that would shake the place.
But completely different sounds, ehm. scents than the band came my way. The fragrance began with fresh leaves, spring rain and a hint of the sea. Followed by lily of the valley, a scent familiar from the garden. Unfortunately, lily of the valley always tends to be a little too opulent and overwhelmingly sweet. But not here. Traces of rose and orange blossom gave the fragrance a certain roundness. Musk and me has become a tricky thing. But in this fragrance it comes across as subtle and not dominating.
The longevity of more than eight hours is just great. It also doesn't change over time, but becomes weaker without being different. The only thing that bothers me is the poisonous green bottle, the brand name "Klotz" in the bag and the fact that the smallest amount of the fragrance is 100 ml. Particularly with new fragrances, I prefer to start with smaller bottles, especially as nothing works without bottling for the handbag. As I test fragrances several times before buying them, I haven't yet absorbed them.
I love lily of the valley fragrances. But unfortunately it's a difficult thing. You either have a migraine trigger in front of you, a chemical scent that only has the name in common with the fragrance or one with such a scratchy, soapy finish. This is not a lily of the valley for sweet teens but for mature but young-at-heart ladies of all ages.
My friend looked at me quite shocked when I didn't consider any of the old lady fragrances, but that it would be this particular extraordinary fragrance that would move in with me after the next test.
