Freshly Showered into Summer - A Play with Expectations
While wandering around Müller out of boredom, I stumbled upon the Wood line on the bottom shelf in the far corner. Attracted by the packaging, I grabbed a test strip to find out what was in the minimalist yet pretty bottle.
And I was initially surprised... THE PRICE FOR THIS?!
The perfume itself smells really good, like cranberry and shower gel, but the expectation of wood and red fruit is by no means fulfilled. To me, it feels more like a body spray than anything else. Definitely good for very hot weather, sports, or at work.
As a deodorant or body spray, this thing would surely be a hit with many people.
Well, long story short, I found the scent heavily discounted online weeks later and jumped on it. It is now one of my favorite "uncomplicated scents."
The MSRP is definitely not worth it due to the low longevity and the lack of uniqueness.

Since Red Wood, I can hear colors and smell movies
"How much shower gel do we want to put in our perfume?"

"Yes."

That's roughly how I imagine the meeting about the concept idea for Red Wood went, as the perfumer and 4 soaps sat in the office and decided: enough shower gel is not enough for us.

About the top note: The unfolding of the scent in the first seconds strongly reminds me of a film from 2015 called "The Avalanche." The only difference is: While the film starts calmly and slowly tries to build a connection with the viewer, the top note of Red Wood mercilessly overwhelms every olfactory cell with a synthetic avalanche of shower gel.

About the heart note: The numbed scent molecules that were not swept away by the olfactory avalanche reveal a new, sour note after the catastrophe that one has not encountered before: shower gel. Sensory-enhancing substances are usually to be approached with caution. I don't know how sniffing Red Wood works. However, I have the feeling that the scent world is turning.

About the base note: While the last scent cells in my olfactory bulb play the theme song of Tetris in orchestral version, my olfactory perception is in a state that is beyond good and evil. In the end, a bleak, synthetic shower gel jungle remains in 80s retro synthwave style. Everything blinks, everything shines. All shower gel.

The secret: I recognize here what the perfumer has cleverly tried to incorporate unobtrusively. A very special and secret, hidden scent note: shower gel.

I'm not quite sure if since Red Wood I can hear colors or smell movies. But something has definitely changed since Red Wood.

Red Soda
Actually, I only looked at this fragrance to check if my nose was working properly. And it is. In the previous descriptions, Almdudler, red berry compote, and plum liqueur were mentioned. The labels are delicious and absolutely accurate, but unfortunately, the scent is anything but delightful. I was thinking of red soda. It didn't last long on me either. Let's see if the "plastic cedar" will find any friends after all. After the hype around earlier "Wood" fragrances, I expected more.

Cheeky, fresh, and yet down-to-earth
Red Wood has piqued my interest. The floral freshness is airy and friendly at first, but once the base is reached, the skin smells creamy, as if oiled with a blend of flowers. The scent becomes very soft, a bit calmer but loses none of its friendliness.

One might expect a spring/summer fragrance due to the magnolias and the sweet-fruity composition, but for me, it is more of a somewhat heavier autumn scent. A down-to-earth woman radiates playful youthfulness with this fragrance. Very exciting.

Beautiful fruity no-brainer for everyday wear
Here’s a review of a fragrance that scores quite modestly here with clearly under 7.0. But that doesn’t necessarily mean much, as it hasn’t even been rated by 100 users. Sometimes the scent just doesn’t hit the mark. I find this one quite cool with its fruity-fresh-sweet no-brainer DNA that you can wear anytime. Overall, I think the fragrances from Dsquared² are pretty cool, just like their fashion. Unlike the fashion, you can get the fragrances from EuroItalia (including Moschino & Versace) at fair prices. These fragrances have very solid quality for designer scents in that price segment, and the slow sellers (like this one) can be had for little money. 100ml of this Red Wood costs just over €20, which is absolutely good, and this can be used versatilely by women due to its uncomplicated scent DNA. A fragrance that isn’t complicated or overwhelming, but simply a pleasant scent with red fruits and nice wood.

I really like the Wood line. Not only the fragrances themselves, but also these great bottles. They have a wonderful wooden cap and the glass looks elegant and feels good in the hand. The scents also impress with great wood and everyday wearable fragrances. This Red Wood hasn’t received much attention so far, but I can absolutely recommend it if you like uncomplicated fruity scents. Here you get a matching red bottle to go with the red fruits and the fitting name Red Wood.
Those who pay attention to the pyramid and the name already know where the journey is headed. And that is indeed the case, with no real big surprises here. The fruit takes the first part, the wood the second. Some wood comes through in the top note, but it is dominated by red fruits. The main player is, of course, the cranberry, which is well showcased here. A note that I think should be used more often in fragrances. A wonderful carefree fruity-fresh note that also comes off a bit sweet. This fruity-fresh sweetness is perfectly suitable for everyday wear and doesn’t clash without being too trivial. Additionally, there’s a great lychee note that harmonizes wonderfully with the cranberry. As the fragrance develops, subtle floral notes appear in the heart, as they shouldn’t be missing in a women’s fragrance. I like these subtle floral notes in combination with the fruit. In the base, there’s a lot of wood and also some clean musk. The wood flashes through earlier, and the base is then very woody, living up to the name. Overall, very harmonious and simply very wearable without much fuss.
Performance is solid, but of course not spectacular. If you use this fragrance as a scent for everyday wear, it’s optimal, as it lasts from 6 hours and the sillage is a bit milder. The first two hours it performs quite well.

Overall, a great women’s fragrance that you can get for a fair price. I really like the cranberry note, which creates a carefree mood. Not a "wow fragrance" for me, but it definitely has charm.

I get nothing woody in here. Just weirdly cloying synthetic bad soap.

One wonders if "red wood" is another term for "fruity floral shower gel."

Lychee + rose are already noticeable, but RW is too sour.
Since it contains cranberry, it might help against bladder infections.

Label deception! Instead of wood, just a synthetic mush of lychee, rose & cranberry. There are truly better scents from the house.

I actually like the brand. But I’m not a fan of Red Wood. Synthetic berries, A LOT of clean musk, and dusty wood.

Oh no, that nasty plastic cedar with musk again. The first moment of the top note was so fresh-peppy-fruity in a new way!

Yes, it smells a bit like shampoo/shower gel, but a really great one! Sweet-sour girly fizz. The color of the bottle fits. The name doesn't.

First extremely fruity, then just a floral shower gel. So it smells nice, yes, but it doesn't blow me away in any way...

Where is the woody character? Berries, fruit mishmash & nothing to breathe in/out. Not a feel-good place. She Wood R. was great. The new one is a flop.
