Three Peaks
Anise? I rather think of a hint of liquid honey sweetness that quickly recedes, allowing a bright, soapy-floral combination to take the lead. There’s also a watery rose present. Jasmine is less opulent today and more strict. And suddenly, the liquid honey is back. Surely a white flower honey. Unfortunately, I have never smelled Ylang pure. Is that it? The sweetness also reminds me of lily of the valley heaviness. However, it doesn’t really become sweet overall; a bitter-floral note always remains inherent. Last but not least, spices are detectable in the background. Pink pepper and nutmeg fit well.
Three peaks soon stand almost side by side: soap, watery rose, and prickly spice-honey mixture. This needs a moderator. It appears in the form of a creamy something, for which the details of the base (still!) only provide me with clues.
From noon onwards, it generally becomes creamier and sweeter, the floral aspect loses its strictness. Over the following hours, our creamy equalizer from above becomes increasingly recognizable as musk, creamy-clean. The touch of honey is gone. I don’t notice amber, similar to some other fragrances from this provider. By evening, it is practically a pure floral-cream scent. Quite conventional, but well done.
Today's candidate is truly not an olfactory self-starter or even a flatterer in its front half; rather, it is a rather unique brew that, in my opinion, eludes clear categorization. Especially the classic soapy part - which also comes through strongest in projection - keeps all options open. Narcosis is therefore quite wearable for men, but they should like it extravagant upfront and not shy away from the cream of the long finish.
I thank Verbena for the sample.
