Dambrosia
Opens with a sweetish bouquet of fruity notes such as pear, fig and grape layered over a dusty-powdery base of almond and sandalwood. The pear and grape notes vanish almost immediately and I am left with a dry blend of milky-green fig and dusty-creamy sandalwood sweetened by what is left of the grape top note. This is an odd gourmand, but a typical Profumum Roma offering because it is loud and dense. In its later stages the scent begins to dissolve, allowing me to see the remaining notes quite clearly: a grassy-green fig dominating what is left of the almond and sandalwood.

Cold letdown
I like all of the notes. Separately. Unfortunately they have an incredibly bad impression on my skin.

Sweaty, a bit rotten quilt after a long sickness, yellow, slightly moldy, slightly waxy. Later on it flashes the picture of a cruel leathery flower, somewhere at the end of the world. It's totally comfortless.

I strongly believe, that it goes wrong only on my skin. Please try it before you buy.

It is really unisex, durable and strong.

Great sandalwood
The opening of Dambrosia is wince-making: strident pear-scented Windex. I never would have bought a travel size of this perfume had I not smelled it on a colleague every Thursday at our pre-pandemic coffee and cornetto mornings, when the perfume, applied early that morning, was just now hitting its warm, figgy sandalwood stage. You could always identify her position in the room from the ribbons of expansive, voluptuous sandalwood that trailed after her like streaks of buttercup yellow.

I bought a travel bottle but was dismayed at the harsh detergent opening when I got it onto my own skin. And to this day, that opening is something I simply endure until the perfume finally hits its stride. But when Dambrosia finally turns into that winter-weight fig and oily, peanutty sandalwood that radiates ten meters in each direction, I invariably forgive it its ugly start. It is never less than edible at this point, never less than slightly artificial either, but I love its vulgar loudness. It suits the pushy but gritty glamour you see on Via del Corso, with its furred-up baby strollers, small dogs dressed in designer clothes, and flashy cars weaving around the gaggles of excited tourists and tired-looking Romans just trying to make it home.

a lovely pairing of notes
just plain enjoyable! weird but it works! a tart green grape blended with a fleshy fig on a bed of softly sweet and powdery sandalwood. Notes I wouldn’t ever think to pair together but somehow they compliment one another. The dry down is less fruity and more of a subtle sandalwood with hints of that tartness from before.

Are you THE cowardly scent?
First of all: No, it is not BUT that does not mean that this little treasure is not a wonderful fragrance.

I'm currently testing out a lot of what the Profumum Roma brand has to offer and came across Ambrosia. A dear perfumer gave me the fragrance as a little bonus and tested it before the actual fragrance.

The fragrance opens with a fig that is impossible to over-smell. Pear is subtly in the background.

In the DD light sandalwood and soft almond, which remains until the end.

The beauty of the fragrance is that you can really smell every single note. Everything harmonizes really well together. The fragrance is neither overloaded nor too sticky. A few spritzes are enough to make the fragrance last all day.

Is it THE fig fragrance for me? No, but as I said, it definitely deserves a little review.

Unique take on a fig perfume. Slightly sweet fig blended beautifully with sandalwood. Mature and luxurious.

Creamy sandalwood that reads almost nutty. Realistic dried fig. Yum.
