250 € cotton candy
I know that Acqua e Zucchero is widely regarded as a high end Pink Sugar dupe, so I was not surprised that they smell really similar. I was a bit surprised how simple and sweet this really is though, which in hindsight isn't that shocking either. No Profvmvm Roma fragrance I have tried so far was very complex, they all get straight to the point and this is no exception.
So, this is a fruity, vanilla-based cotton candy scent. I smell red berries and a hint of a fizzy, lemony citrus note, but not much orange blossom. The scent doesn't have the polarizing licorice note that Pink Sugar has, but it does have a bit of a cough-syrup vibe and a slightly burnt undertone. Just like cotton candy that has been in the machine for a moment too long.
As a gourmand fan, I do like it, but I don't understand why anyone would pay so much for it. Yes, it's a better alternative for Pink Sugar if you want something fresher and a little less cloying, but there are soo many fragrances in this genre in all price categories that I don't see the unique selling point here. Even the great performance can be had at a cheaper price point.
Despite being listed as unisex, I find this just as girly as Pink Sugar, Al-Rehab Soft and the likes. Everyone should wear what they like, and I honestly prefer men who smell like candy over men who smell like screechy blue shower gel, but this kind of scent will always read more feminine to me.
