Creamy from the Drugstore

Even after 4 years at Parfumo, I believe that drugstore fragrances are far better than their reputation. Even in the higher-priced mainstream segment, there are real snoozers, and the issue of sameness does not stop at the shelves of Douglas & Co.... For everyday use, I prefer something simple, nose-friendly, and therefore often reach for my drugstore fragrances. Besides the Betty Barclays, I also like Esprit, as they are not as flat as some star scents.

Life by Esprit is a classic. After all, it has been around for 12 years now, which is a very long time for an Esprit fragrance. Thus, it must be selling well, and rightly so. It is affordable and smells pleasantly creamy and well-groomed. Last night, I pulled it out for the first time in a while and sprayed a bit on my hand for testing. Later, I applied some cream and was surprised by the lovely creamy scent of my hand cream, which I had not noticed before... *gg*

From the listed top notes, I actually smell not much except for lychee. The heart notes are a different story. To my nose, Life smells from the start of a lot of lotus, rounded off with a little rose. I don’t know how gardenia smells, so I can’t say whether I can perceive it here. Along with the lovely lychee-lotus scent, a very clean white musk and a woody scent join in faster than expected. I can't say exactly how amaranth wood smells. It is a powdery, balsamic wood scent, similar to the cedar scent that many YR fragrances have for me. The sillage is rather tame, but sufficient for me, and the longevity is about 4-5 hours.

For me, a nice all-rounder for many occasions.

Life is Beautiful

Life by Esprit is, for me, a beautiful and cheerful uncomplicated fragrance in the low-price segment. A scent that you happily toss into your handbag to freshen up a bit in between.

The fragrance starts off very fruity and zesty. You can clearly smell the red berries, and at first, it can seem a bit sharp. I also detect citrus fruits, and then very soon a bouquet of synthetic rose and water lotus emerges, with soft aquatic notes joining in. The dry down is slightly woody and only faintly perceptible. For a drugstore fragrance, I still find the longevity of about 3-4 hours acceptable.

A scent for warm spring days, cooler summer days, or even rainy days in autumn.
If you want to wear something uplifting but not too exciting, with which you won’t clash, this perfume always smells clean and uncomplicated. Target audience: girls and women aged 16-25 who enjoy life ;)

clean little fruit

Today I raided the drugstore shelf. Life by Esprit is a fresh scent. It starts off berry-citrusy-fruity, but immediately has a radiant white, clean sillage. You can distinctly smell the cleanliness and freshness that later takes over.
The heart is a bit more floral, mainly lily of the valley, although I still catch a hint of berries. The white musk, combined with the lotus, overshadows everything with a lightness that seems to carry fresh laundry in the wind.

A really nice scent for everyday wear and for work. Its light fruitiness makes it less one-dimensional than other laundry scents, yet it leaves a freshly washed impression.

The bottle is nice and radiates joy of life. The colors seem very uplifting to me. I'm glad to have discovered it now. It will accompany me starting tomorrow.
The longevity is average, lasting about 6-8 hours.
I can imagine many women using it daily. It doesn’t smell cheap to me. It’s a subtle everyday fragrance.

With some fragrances, I wonder what had to happen for the manufacturer to come up with the name. "Life"... a pretty individual association, but one thing is almost always true about life: it's multifaceted.

And that's exactly what "Life" is not. I suspect the manufacturer confused the words "Life" and "Lively" when naming it. Lively, the scent definitely is.

The bottle already conveys a lively, friendly impression with its cheerfully colorful swirls. The fragrance starts off strongly zesty-fruity, somewhat synthetic. But once you get past the sweetness shortly after spraying, a pleasantly subtle amber-wood note develops over time. For a while, I perceived it as a feel-good scent... which may also be because I only used it during my leisure time.

It's an affordable and likable everyday fragrance, too light for winter, too intense for midsummer. All in all, quite nice.

So, the bottle has been empty for a few days now. Is life over because of that? Definitely not, as it hasn't been a candidate for repurchase for quite some time.

I like it

Well, I quite like this scent.
Could it be that it’s in a different bottle today than it was back then? In any case, I find the new bottle prettier.

I think this is indeed an appealing fragrance from the lower price segment. And not just for summer, but for the whole year. The fruity-sweet and quite delicious smell of the perfume should appeal not only to young girls but also to older generations. It doesn’t come across as exaggerated, although it does seem a bit synthetic at first. Strangely enough, after a while, the scent reminded me of sunscreen, even though I don’t know why.

One should refrain from spraying generously if one doesn’t want to disturb others.
I think this fragrance is definitely worth a look.

It always reminded me of hairspray;-) Still, it's a light & fluffy scent that subtly accompanies you throughout the day. Definitely a repurchase candidate!
