Beautiful Sheer Estēe Lauder 2003

Prior to testing this fragrance I was almost certain that the sheer version of Beautiful would smell just like the original only lighter, like an EDT. I was wrong.

Beautiful Sheer is like a fresh burst of youth and femininity. Although I quite like the original Beautiful, this perfume seems to appeal to me more due to my young age. I would recommend this fragrance for Spring and Summer months, as it is light, fresh and inoffensive. The fruity and flowery notes in this fragrance have been perfectly blended, creating something that is both pleasant and versatile. It would be difficult to find anyone that found this fragrance offensive.

I don't think it was Estee Lauder's intention for this fragrance to be considered a masterpiece, which it definitely isn't. However, I consider it a fragrance that captures many desirable elements, such as being fresh, clean and easy to wear. I believe that every woman should have at least one fragrance in their wardrobe that is pretty, casual and refreshing like Beautiful Sheer. It could quite easily become a signature scent or a fragrance that you turn to when you can't decide what else to wear.

...I find myself singing again. But yes, this fragrance makes you happy. I acquired this wonderfully pretty bottle in a swap, and it fits nicely in the hand. At first, I only sniffed the bottle and thought, ah, another ordinary scent like Pleasures. But: sniffing the bottle doesn't count! So, I bravely sprayed it on. And lo and behold! It’s nothing like an ordinary scent!

Beautiful Sheer is a fragrance with edges and corners, and that’s despite it being pink! And since the pyramid is missing here, I can only go by my feelings.

What I perceived first was a juicy, ripe mandarin, a pleasant, invigorating start.

But then a huge bouquet of flowers makes its way. Primarily jasmine, but there should also be a bit of lilac and violet, possibly a hint of lily of the valley and a drop of wild rose. It’s all so lush and is carried into the room by a truly good sillage. I would immediately recommend this to those colleagues who douse themselves in Sunflowers or Jil Sander Sun in the morning and take my breath away with their scent all day long.

I must admit I can’t perceive any spices; it remains a large bouquet of flowers with plenty of greenery that lasts all day. Four sprays are really enough for at least 12 hours! Only then does one blossom after another slowly fade away, until a fine, dark green remains, which then also gradually disappears.

Really beautiful, this Beautiful Sheer, and I’m singing again...

I think my nose is playing tricks on me because I mainly smell spice. What exactly, I can't say due to lack of knowledge, but the scent reminds me of Coriandre by Jean Couturier.
So probably coriander ;)

The fragrance is quite green and hardly changes, only a bit of rose comes through - and as someone said on Basenotes: "It's longlasting... don't overspray."
It actually lasts well.
