In 1819, a perfumery was founded in Paris for a certain "Madame Millot". Félix Adolph Millot (1801-1863) took over this perfumery and changed the name first to "Brunier" and then to "F. Millot Parfum" in 1839.
After his death, the perfumery passed to his son Frédéric Félix Millot (1829-1873). He opened a store at 21, rue du Faubourg-Saint-Martin. His creations included perfumes such as "Violette-Laetitia," "L'Eau de Cologne Primale Iridia," and a flavored vinegar called "Vinaigre Iridia."
After his death, his wife Caroline Louise continued to run the company. She sold the Lavallois-Perret Paris workshops in 1876 and opened a new branch at 98, Boulevard Sevastopol. During this time, the House of F. Millot was the official supplier of the royal family in Egypt and exported perfumes worldwide.
In 1897, Henri Millot Desprez and Félix Dubois, who was married to the granddaughter of the founder, took over the company and changed the name to "Parfums F. Millot et Les Petits Fils de F. Millot". They opened another store at 57, Avenue Victor Emmanuel III.
They hired Hector Guimard to create flacons for three new fragrance lines, which were then presented at the 1900 World's Fair in Paris at the Pavillon Parfum Millot. The fragrance lines were named "Violi-Violette," "Primialis," and "Katirix '' (also known as the "Flower of Mexico"). Despite the gold medal they received at the World's Fair, these three fragrance lines did not become a success.
This would come later, when in 1922 Henri Millot Desprez, son of Jean Desprez, became the nose of Parfums F. Millot. One of his creations was the most successful Millot perfume, "Crêpe de Chine," which was launched in 1925.
The name of the company was changed a number of times to "Parfums Dubois-Millot". Some time later, Duhayon also worked as a perfumer at Millot.
In 1963 the company was sold to the house "Parfums Revillon" and finally liquidated in 1970.
