Supreme woodland witch hut vibes
Truly witchy atmospheric - a visit to the forest witch rather than the heaviness of a metaphysical shop. It really does bring to mind sitting in a warm hut and drinking a glass of magical herbal cola brewed by a sorceress. VERY Witcher 3 Velen (if you know you know).

Mugwort, cardamom, and red musk-forward. As is usual with red musk, there are elements of wild red berries, which play nicely into the other notes without being too fruit forward.

I’m super sensitive to smoke and leather (usually instant nausea for me) but here it’s only in the background and adds depth the the herbs and spice. The leather note is very worn, like a leather chair that’s absorbed the scent of its surroundings rather than a pungent fresh leather shoe. The smoke isn’t charred - no creosote.

In late stages it turns into a more mild incense, but still retains some of its earlier complexities. This is one of my favorite ‘at home’ scents, and brings a sense of creativity and intrigue to the everyday. Also great for autumnal gatherings, dinner parties (sillage is polite and moderate) and searching walks in the woods.

NOTE ON BOTTLES: The 9 score is for the 50ml, which is gorgeous.

Spicy and mysterious
Baba yaga is a mix of spices that sits on the skin beautifuly. It's like that perfect mix you find in a niche spice store that you can't resist to buy. Fantome describes it as a hut where animal skin dries on the wall and a bubbling cauldron sits over charcoal. I personally think they nailed it with the imagery. As much as it is spicy it has that rough musky scent that hits the back of the nose.

I have almost finished the end of my sample bottle and will buy the big version because I can't get enough of it!

Animalic witch
I honestly did not expect how animalic this scent would be on my skin! This is a very different take on the witch-themed perfumes, and so far the most on-point for Baba Yaga. This is witch in the woods, the scary and (potentially) cannibalistic kind (I know that Yaga is both good and evil depending on the folklore, but I think this scent is the darker version). Musks and leather got me here :D The spices are also quite noticeable but less so than musk. I don't get the Kiera from Witcher 3 vibes (at least, not at first), on my skin it's the Witches of the Crookback Bog (the Crones)! No less! This scent is menacing! It's Baba Yaga! This scent is heavy, stuffy, and warm (all in a good way!) Very evocative of Yaga's hut.

The scent gets a bit calmer in the dry-down but the opening is Crones to me! :D

On my quest to test all the Yagas!
I didn't expect this to be this good, really. Its somehow... humid? Like the pulsating center of a forest, deeply earthy and uncanny (and from me, this is one of the best compliment I could give to a perfume). It smells witchy! The musks are perfect, and the animalic note makes it even creepier. I still have to test some others Yagas, but this is potentially The Yaga perfume hands down. Creepy, yet something in the spices add a sweetness to it that seems like a deceit invite into the witch's house....

Autumnal Witch's Hut
The wind whistles outside the door, the floorboards creak, but deep within the lonely, dark forest hut, a fire still burns. Smoky air wafts towards you. It carries the scent of drying spices and leather, as well as the smell of something animalistic lurking in a corner.
From the very first sniff, Baba Yaga reminded me of a witch's house, living up to its name inspired by a legend. A very autumnal to wintry fragrance for both ladies and gentlemen.

Want to feel like you're in a Witcher 3 sorceress hut? This is it - deep forest magic rather than heavy metaphysical shop incense. Love.
